Lienchiang County Council
The Lienchiang County Council (MTCC; ) is the elected county council of Lienchiang County, Republic of China. The council composes of nine councilors lastly elected through the 2022 Republic of China local election on 26 November 2022. It has the fewest seats among all councils in Taiwan. History MTCC was originally established as Lienchiang County Affairs Counseling Committee in 1957 by the Executive Yuan. On 7 November 1992, the martial law was lifted from Matsu and the committee was reformed into Lienchiang Temporary County Council and its councilor members were appointed by Fujian Provincial Government. The first election for the councilor members were done in January 1994, and in March 1994 it was finally changed and inaugurated to Lienchiang County Council. On 7 November 1996, the current council building in Fuxing Village of Nangan Township was completed. Lienchiang County
The Matsu Islands; Foochow Romanized: Mā-cū liĕk-dō̤ ( or ), officially Lienchiang County; Foochow Romanized: Lièng-gŏng-gâing (), are an archipelago of 36 islands and islets in the East China Sea governed by the Republic of China (Taiwan), situated alongside the southeastern coast of mainland China. The archipelago forms the smallest county in the ROC-controlled territories by area and population, as well as one of two counties that is a part of the nominal Fuchien Province. Matsu Nangan Airport
Matsu Nangan Airport ( zh, t=馬祖南竿機場, p=Mǎzǔ Nángān Jīchǎng) is one of the airports in Matsu Islands, Lienchiang County, Fukien Province, Taiwan. It is located on the Nangan Island, near the Jieshou Village. It also serves as a heliport. The facility can handle only turboprop planes, like the ATR 72-600. Fujian Provincial Government
The Fujian Provincial Government is the nominal government of the streamlined Fujian Province of the Republic of China. Founded in 1927 in the mainland portion of Fujian, it was evacuated to Kinmen in 1949. Since 2018, it has been superseded and its duties have been transferred to the Kinmen-Matsu Joint Services Center, the National Development Council and other ministries of the Executive Yuan. The White Terror ( zh, t=, poj=Pe̍h-sek Khióng-pò͘, p=Báisè Kǒngbù) was the political repression of Taiwanese civilians and political dissenters under the government ruled by the Kuomintang (KMT). The period of White Terror is generally considered to have begun when martial law was declared in Taiwan on 19 May 1949, which was enabled by the 1948 Temporary Provisions against the Communist Rebellion, and ended on 21 September 1992 with the repeal of Article 100 of the Criminal Code, allowing for the prosecution of "anti-state" activities. The Temporary Provisions had been repealed a year earlier on 22 April 1991. Martial law had been lifted on 15 July 1987.
