Alvin Libin
Alvin G. Libin (born April 22, 1931) is a Canadian businessman and philanthropist. The Calgary-based Libin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Balmon Investments Ltd, a private management services and investment company, with interests primarily in hotels, nursing homes, oil & gas, real estate, and financial services. Personal life Libin's parents, Norman and Ethel (née Shapiro), were Jewish Russian immigrants. In 1953, Libin married the late Mona (Diamond). They had one son, Robert, and three grandchildren, Louis, Eda, and Nora. Mona Libin was a community activist in her own right, co-chairing the Partners in Health campaign that raised $51 million for the Calgary Health Region. Following kidney transplantation in 2004, Mona Libin eventually succumbed to pneumonia and died in 2006. Liu Libin (; born February 16, 1995, in Beijing) is a male Chinese volleyball player. He is the first volleyballer who joined a foreign club as a current player of China men's national volleyball team. He currently plays in Beijing BAIC Motor. Career Club career In 2013, Liu Libin got the champion of the junior event of volleyball in 2013 National Games of China with Jiang Chuan and Zhang Binglong as the main three wing spikers. In 2013–2014 Chinese Volleyball League, he made his debut and got the first champion of the senior event. After several seasons, he became the main OH of Beijing Baic Motor. In order to improve himself, he decided to join a foreign club and chose Tourcoing Lille Métropole Volley-Ball in 2017. Phil Libin (born February 1, 1972) ( rus, Филлип Либин; was born in Leningrad, USSR in 1972, and moved to America when he was eight years old. He served as CEO of the Silicon Valley-based software company Evernote from 2007 to 2015, then became Executive Chairman of Evernote's board. In September 2015, Libin joined General Catalyst Partners as its fourth general partner in Silicon Valley. Wang Libin (; born March 21, 1963) is a former male Chinese basketball player and an active basketball coach. He was born in Shaanxi Province, People's Republic of China. Wang started his playing career at the age of 14 and was one of the most talented front court players in Asia. 6'8", Wang was not only a powerful inside player with solid footwork and impressive mobility but also a stable long range shooter. Some dubbed him as "Asia's number one centre" during his prime in the 1980s. As a member of the China men's national basketball team he competed at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games and was the flag bearer of the Chinese Olympic Team at the opening ceremony. Xiangli Bin (; born March 1967) is a Chinese research professor at the Institute of Optoelectronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He has served as a vice-president of the CAS since 2016. He is a member of the Chinese Society for Optical Engineering (CSOE) and Chinese Optical Society (COS), and an academician of the CAS. Libin () is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Luxembourg, Belgium.
