Liam Jegou
Liam Jegou (; born 9 January 1996) is an Irish slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2011. He is based in France but competes for Ireland. He competes in C1 individually and also competed in C2 with Cade Ryan from 2012 to 2014. Jegou was born in Brittany to an Irish mother and a Breton father. For the first two years of his life, he grew up in Switzerland, before moving to Ballyvaughan, County Clare for the next five years. At the age of seven, his family relocated to Huningue, France. He won a silver medal in the C1 team event at the 2020 European Championships in Prague. He has also won two medals at the ICF World Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships, with one silver in the junior category (C1: 2014) and one bronze in the U23 category (C1: 2019). Pau-Pyrénées Whitewater Stadium
Pau-Pyrénées Whitewater Stadium (french: Stade d'eaux-vives Pau-Pyrénées) is the home training facility for the French national canoe slalom team. It was first used to train the French team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. It 2009, it was the first of three venues used in the canoe slalom World Cup. It is also a whitewater park for recreational use by the general public. History and Design The town of Pau has long been a center of activity for French canoe slalom. 2020 Canoe Slalom World Cup
The 2020 Canoe Slalom World Cup was a series of multiple races in several canoeing and kayaking categories organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 33rd edition. Only 2 out of the 5 rounds were held due to the COVID-19 pandemic and no overall winners were declared by the ICF. Calendar The series was originally scheduled to start in Ivrea, Italy, but all of the races were either canceled or postponed. Results World Cup Race 1 16-18 October in Tacen, Slovenia. 2019 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships
The 2019 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships were the 40th edition of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships. The event took place from 24 to 29 September 2019 in La Seu d'Urgell, Spain under the auspices of International Canoe Federation (ICF). The events took place at the Segre Olympic Park which also hosted the canoe slalom events at the 1992 Summer Olympics. La Seu d'Urgell hosted the championships for the third time after previously hosting the event in 1999 and 2009. As is traditional in a pre-Olympic year, the Championships also doubled as the primary qualification event for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The men's C-1 slalom canoeing event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 25 and 26 July 2021 at the Kasai Canoe Slalom Course. 18 canoeists from 18 nations competed. Background This was the 9th appearance of the event, having previously appeared in every Summer Olympics with slalom canoeing: 1972 and 1992–2016.
