Liam Higgins (Irish Footballer)
Liam Higgins (1945–2006) was an Irish sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Lispole and was a member of the Kerry senior inter-county team from 1969 until 1973. Management After retiring he managed Lispole, West Kerry, he managed the Kerry junior team to Munster and All Ireland Championships in 1983. He also trained Dingle CBS to Two All Ireland Championships in 1996 and 2001. Kerry GAA
The Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kerry GAA, is one of the 32 County board (Gaelic games), county boards of the GAA in Ireland. It is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kerry, and for the Kerry county teams. The Kerry branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 1888. Dara Ó Cinnéide
Dara Ó Cinnéide (born 25 April 1975 in Dublin) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for his local club An Ghaeltacht and at senior level for the Kerry county team from 1995 until 2005. Ó Cinnéide captained Kerry to the All-Ireland title in 2004. Biography Dara Ó Cinnéide was born in Dublin in 1975, but grew up near An Daingean, County Kerry. A native Irish-speaker, he was educated at the local national school and later attended Dingle CBS. Ó Cinnéide currently works as a radio broadcaster with the Irish-language station RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, where he produces the daily afternoon show ''An Saol Ó Dheas,'' and he also presents the main weekly GAA show '' Seó Spóirt'' on the Irish-language channel TG4. Joe Higgins (politician)
Joe Higgins (born 20 May 1949) is an Irish former Socialist Party politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin West constituency from 1997 to 2007 and from 2011 to 2016. He served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Dublin constituency from 2009 to 2011. Early life One of nine children of a small farming family, Higgins was born in 1949 in Lispole, part of the Dingle Gaeltacht in County Kerry. He went to school in the Dingle Christian Brothers School, and after finishing he enrolled in the priesthood. As part of his training he was sent to a Catholic seminary school in Minnesota, United States in the 1960s. Higgins became politicised at the time of anti-Vietnam War protests and the civil rights movement. Diarmuid Murphy
Diarmuid Murphy (born 22 August 1975 in Dingle, County Kerry) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for his local club Dingle and was the goalkeeper at senior level on the Kerry county football team from 2004 until 2009. In August 2010 it was announced that Murphy would join the Kerry management as a selector under coach Jack O'Connor. Playing career Under 21 Murphy was part of the Kerry Under 21 team in 1994 but lost out to Cork in the Munster championship. He was still underage in 1995. He played no part in the Munster championship winning campaign, but returned to the team for the All-Ireland semi-final with Donegal that Kerry won. Murphy was the team's captain for the All-Ireland final with Mayo. The game ended in a 2-12 to 3-09 draw, Kerry won the re-play 3-10 to 1-12 to give Murphy an All-Ireland title as captain. Tommy Griffin is a former Irish Gaelic football player for Kerry and An Daingean. Playing career Club At club level Griffin lined out with Dingle GAA. He won Kerry Intermediate Football Championship titles in 1996 and 2004. He also won a number of West Kerry Senior football league and championship titles during his playing days. Marc Ó Sé
Marc Ó Sé (born 25 April 1980) is an Irish sportsman. A teacher by profession, he works in the CBS in Tralee County Kerry, he played Gaelic football for the Kerry county team from 2002 until 2016 and played with his local club team An Ghaeltacht until 2018. He has played right across the back line for Kerry. His older brothers, Darragh and Tomás, also represented Kerry. Lispole
Lios Póil (anglicised as Lispole) is a Gaeltacht village in County Kerry, Ireland. It is on the Dingle Peninsula, 8 km east of the town of Dingle and 40 km west of Tralee on the N86 National Secondary Route. Transport Bus Éireann services between Tralee and Dingle on the 275 route serve Lispole. The Tralee and Dingle narrow gauge railway ran through Lispole, and a viaduct on the line still stands near the village. Lispole railway station opened on 1 April 1891, shut for passenger traffic on 17 April 1939, shut for goods traffic on 10 March 1947 and shut altogether on 1 July 1953. Tomás Ó Sé (; born 21 June 1978) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. He played Gaelic football with Nemo Rangers GAA, Nemo Rangers and at senior level for the Kerry county football team, Kerry county team from 1998 until he retired in 2013, playing predominantly in the half-back line.
