Li Wenxi
Li Wenxi (; born March 1950) is a retired Chinese politician who spent his entire career in his home-province Liaoning. As of January 2021 he was under investigation by China's top anti-corruption agency. He has retired for eight years, prior to that, he served as vice chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference from 2008 to 2013 and head of from 2002 to 2011. He is the first leader of provincial-ministerial level to be targeted by China's top anticorruption watchdog in 2021. Career Li was born in Benxi County, Liaoning, in March 1950. He entered the workforce in June 1969, and joined the Chinese Communist Party in May 1972. In February 1990 he became deputy magistrate of Benxi County. The National Supervisory Commission is the highest supervisory and anti-corruption authority of the People's Republic of China. Tai'an () is a prefecture-level city in Western Shandong Province of the People's Republic of China. Centered on Mount Tai, the city borders the provincial capital of Jinan to the north, Zibo to the east, Linyi to the southeast, Liaocheng to the extreme west and Jining to the south. Death Sentence With Reprieve
Death sentence with reprieve (, abbr: ) is a criminal punishment found in chapter 5 (death penalty), sections 48, 50 and 51 of the criminal law of the People's Republic of China. It is a two-year suspended sentence where the execution is only carried out if the convicted commits further crimes during the suspension period. After the period the sentence is automatically reduced to life imprisonment, or to a fixed-term based on meritorious behavior. The reprieve is integrated into the sentence, unlike a pardon which occurs after the sentence. Chinese courts hand down this form of sentencing as frequently as, or more often than, actual death sentences. The sentence emphasizes the severity of the crime and the mercy of the court, and comes from traditional Chinese jurisprudence. Wang Like (; born 2 December 1964) is a Chinese police official and politician of Manchu heritage, serving since 2015 as the Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Political and Legal Affairs Commission (''Zhengfawei''), and a member of the provincial Party Standing Committee. In September 2022, Wang Like was given the death sentence with reprieve for bribery and corruption. Biography Wang is of Manchu ethnic background, and was born in Penglai County, Shandong. He joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in December 1984. He graduated from the Liaoning Law Enforcement College, and made his way up the ranks in the policing system of Liaoning province, working in Beizhen, Jinzhou, Huludao, and finally Dalian, where he served as the city's police chief. The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) is a political advisory body in the People's Republic of China and a central part of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s United front (China), united front system. Its members advise and put proposals for political and social issues to government bodies. However, the CPPCC is a body without real legislative power.
