Leyland Super Viking
The Leyland Super Viking was a bus chassis manufactured by Leyland between 1980 and 1984. History Following the closure of Albion's Scotstoun plant in October 1980, production of the Albion Viking VK was transferred to Leyland with the chassis relaunched as the Leyland Super Viking. Production ceased in 1984. Australian Operators The Leyland Super Viking was purchased by a number of Sydney operators in the 1980s including Bowman's Bus Lines, Busways, Delwood Coaches, Hadfield's Bus Lines, Interline Bus Services, Liverpool Transport Company, North & Western Bus Lines and Westway. Leyland Bus was a British bus manufacturer based in Farington, Lancashire. It emerged from the Rover Group, formerly known as British Leyland, as a management buyout of the group's bus business. Leyland Bus was subsequently acquired by Volvo Buses in 1988, with the Leyland name eventually dropped by Volvo in 1993. Baxter's Coaches is an Australian bus charter company in Sydney. Until August 2006, it operated route bus services in Western Sydney. History Baxter's Coaches was founded by Roy Baxter and his son Garry after the Merrylands based services of Barklimore Brothers were purchased in April 1981. In January 1987 the Wentworthville services of Western Road Transport Services were acquired. In April 1992, the Granville based services of Delwood Coaches were purchased, and in June 1995 the services of Bass Hill Bus Service were acquired. The Bass Hill bus services were renumbered 930 and 932 from 20 and 21 shortly after, while the Villawood part of route 21 was amalgamated with ex Delwood route 902. In April 2004, bus services 817 and 818 were transferred from Bustrans to Baxter's. They were soon transferred to Transit First along with the former Bass Hill Bus routes 930 and 932 in January 2005.
