Leyla Badirbeyli
Leyla Aghalar gizi Badirbeyli and Leyla Badirbeyova – (after marriage – Javanshirova; ); (1920–1999), Soviet and Azerbaijani actress of theatre and cinema, People's Artiste of the Azerbaijan SSR (1959), laureate of the State Stalin Prize of the second degree (1946), member of the CPSU from 1945. She is buried in the Alley of Honor. Biography Leyla Badirbeyli was born on 8 January 1920 in Baku, in the family of Aghalar Badirbeyov, from the generation of Shamkir beys. In 1936, she became the soloist of the Song and Dance Ensemble of Azerbaijan, where she worked until 1942. In 1942, under the guidance of the Azerbaijan State Drama Theatre, named after Meshadi Azizbeyov's invitation, she began to perform on the stage of this theatre. The Cloth Peddler (1945 Film)
''The Cloth Peddler'' () is a 1945 Soviet- Azerbaijani romantic comedy musical film made in Baku, based on the operetta '' Arshin Mal Alan'' by the famous Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov. Plot Set in Baku at the turn of the 20th century, a young successful businessman Asgar ( Rashid Behbudov) wishes to marry. He wants his bride to be the choice of his heart, but Azerbaijani tradition restricts him from communicating with the lady as a lover before marriage. So he decides to disguise himself as a mere cloth peddler and the young woman, Gulchoehra ( Leyla Badirbayli,) falls in love with him. However, she is concerned that her father, Soltan bey ( Alakbar Huseynzade) will not allow her to marry a cloth peddler. Young Asgar then reveals himself to her father and asks for her hand in marriage. Seeing that he is indeed a wealthy young man, the father agrees and the two are permitted to marry. Mirza Fatali Akhundov, also known as Mirza Fatali Akhundzade, or Mirza Fath-Ali Akhundzadeh (12 July 1812 – 9 March 1878), was a celebrated Iranian Azerbaijanis, Iranian AzerbaijaniĀḴŪNDZĀDA ĀḴŪNDZĀDA (in Soviet usage, AKHUNDOV), MĪRZĀ FATḤ-ʿALĪ (1812–78), Azerbaijani playwright and propagator of alphabet reform; also, one of the earliest and most outspoken atheists to appear in the Islamic world.
