Ley Karuna
''Ley Karuna'' is a 1988 Maldivian film directed by Hassan Najumee. Produced by Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the film stars Mohamed Rasheed, Mariyam Rasheedha and Ahmed Sharumeel in lead roles. The film marked a breakthrough to Mohamed Rasheed's career and is noted to be his first paid film. Premise Ali ( Mohamed Rasheed) and Mohamed (Ahmed Sharumeel) are two exemplary siblings, who always have each other's back. An unfortunate incident leads Mohamed being handicapped while Ali gets the chance to study in Male'. Years later, Ali stopped writing to Mohamed though the latter desperately waits for a news from him. Ali, now named as Shifaz, lives with a well educated and modern family, where he starts a romantic relationship with the landlord's daughter, Zaina (Mariyam Rasheedha). Her parents fixed her marriage with a wealthy man, Basheer (Hamid Wajeeh), whose scam was later exposed to Zaina's father. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih
Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ( dv, އިބްރާހީމް މުޙައްމަދު ޞާލިޙް; ar, إبراهيم محمد صالح; born 1 March 1962), better known as Ibu (އިބޫ), is a Maldivian politician and the president of the Maldives since 17 November 2018. Solih was first elected to the People's Majlis in 1994, aged 30, as the MP from his home atoll of Faadhippolhu. Solih played a leading role in the formation of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the Maldives Political Reform Movement from 2003 until 2008, which led to the country adopting a new modern constitution and multiparty democracy for the first time in its history. Solih was also a senior member of parliament and the Special Majlis. Mohamed Rasheed (actor)
Mohamed Rasheed (2 April 1964), professionally known as Dharaa Rasheed, is a Maldivian film actor, cinematographer, producer and director. Early life At the age of twelve, Rasheed along with his friends, Sodhiq and Kashima Ahmed Shakir, used to spend most of their times at his place, singing, playing table tennis and undertake Urdu classes. After completing his studies at Majeediyya School, Rasheed witnessed several cameras being carried to the recently developed broadcasting company, Television Maldives and decided to be a cameraman. During the time, him, along with other friends, Umar Zahir and guitarist Abdul Rauf used to perform music at small gatherings. At the age of seventeen, he applied to Television Maldives to work as a cameraman but his application was rejected due to no vacancy. Haajara Abdul Kareem
Haajara Abdul Kareem was a Maldivian actress, writer, director and producer mostly known for her villainous and comical roles in feature films. Career Haajara played the role of Jameela, a poor woman who struggles in a second marriage, in Ahmed Sharmeel and Ibrahim Waheed's family drama film '' Dhon Manma'' (1992) alongside Ibrahim Shakir and Sharmeel. The film tells the story of a step-mother who strives to create a bond with her step-children. Sofa Thaufeeq
Sofa Thowfeek commonly spelled as Sofa Thaufeeq (11 August 1967) is a Maldivian singer. Early life and career Sofa Thaufeeq was born on 11 August 1967. Her father, Mohamed Thaufeeq was mostly known for his strong voice in the radio program ''Keerithi Rasoolaage Siyarathu'' while her mother, Aishath Fareedha is a homemaker and singer. She is the sister of notable local playback singers Shifa Thaufeeq and Asim Thaufeeq. At the age of eight, she was selected in her school's chorus group, where she started singing and performing on school concerts and locals events. While studying in Aminiya School, she performed the song "Hindhu Emaa Kan'du Thereyn" in the year's national event drill. The performance caught the eyes of several music composers which enabled her to ge the breakthrough in film industry.
