Levanger is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Trøndelag Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the district of Innherred. The administrative centre of the municipality is the Levanger (town), town of Levanger. Levanger (town)
or is a town and the administrative center of Levanger Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The university town is located along the eastern shore of the Trondheimsfjorden, at the mouth of the river Levangselva. The town is located about half-way between the towns of Steinkjer and Stjørdalshalsen. Prior to 1962, Levanger Municipality was coterminous with the town of Levanger and its immediate vicinity, but since 1962, the town has just been once small area within a much larger municipality. Frol is a former municipality in the old Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1856 until its dissolution in 1962. The municipality was first known as ''Levanger landsogn'' and then in 1911 the name was changed to ''Frol Municipality''. The municipality included all the area surrounding the town of Levanger in what is now Levanger Municipality in Trøndelag county. The administrative centre of the municipality was located at Brusve, just outside the town of Levanger. Prior to its dissolution in 1962, the municipality was the 454th largest by area out of the 731 municipalities in Norway. Levanger Church
Levanger Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Levanger Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The church is located in the town of Levanger, along the road Kirkegata. It is the main church for the Levanger parish which is part of the Stiklestad prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, plastered brick church was built during 1902 in a long church design in an Art Nouveau style using plans drawn up by the architect Karl Norum (1852-1911). The church seats about 550 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1432, but the church was likely built much earlier. In chapter 12 of the historical book Gunnlaugs saga ormstungu, an Icelandic saga, hints are given about a church in Levanger as Gunnlaug died after a fight and was buried by this church. Levanger Hospital
Levanger Hospital () is a hospital located in the town of Levanger in Levanger Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The hospital is located along the road Kirkegata on the west side of the town of Levanger. Along with Namsos Hospital, this is one of two hospitals in the old Nord-Trøndelag county (now part of Trøndelag county). Both hospitals are managed by the Nord-Trøndelag Hospital Trust. Levanger Station
Levanger Station () is a railway station located in the centre of the town of Levanger in Levanger Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The station is located along the Nordland Line. The station serves both local and express trains northbound through Innherred and to Nordland, and southbound to Trondheim. The Trøndelag Commuter Rail, which runs between Steinkjer and Trondheim, stops at Levanger, and operates at a one-hour intervals.
