Levallois-Perret () is a Communes of France, commune in the Hauts-de-Seine Departments of France, department and Île-de-France Regions of France, region of north-central France. It lies on the right bank of the Seine, some from the Kilometre zero#France, centre of Paris in the north-western suburbs of the French capital. It is the List of cities by population density, most densely populated town in Europe and, together with neighbouring Neuilly-sur-Seine, one of the most expensive suburbs of Paris. Name The name Levallois-Perret comes from two housing developments, ''Champerret'' (started by landowner Jean-Jacques Perret in 1822) and ''Village Levallois'' (founded by developer Nicolas-Eugène Levallois in 1845), which resulted in the incorporation of the commune. Patrick Balkany
Patrick Balkany (born 16 August 1948 in Neuilly-sur-Seine) is a French politician. He is a former member of the National Assembly of France. He was representing the 5th constituency of the Hauts-de-Seine department, and is a member of The Republicans. He served as mayor of Levallois-Perret, a wealthy suburb of Paris, since 1983, with his wife Isabelle as his deputy. He is also a long-time friend of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy. He is of Hungarian, Latvian and Ukrainian Jewish origin.. In 2019, he was sentenced for tax evasion to four years in prison and to ten years of ineligibility, then dismissed from his mayor's mandate. Five months later he was released for health reasons. In february 2022, his sentence got reverted back to imprisonment due to multiple violations of his house arrest. The (, ''City Hall'') is a municipal building in Levallois-Perret, Hauts-de-Seine, in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, France, standing on Place de la République. It has been included on the '' Inventaire général des monuments'' by the French Ministry of Culture since 1995. History In 1865, the industrialist, Émile Rivay, donated a house at Nos. 96-98 Rue de Courcelles (now Rue du Président-Wilson) to the village of Levallois-Perret. After Levallois-Perret was separated from the commune of Clichy in June 1866, the new town council, led by the mayor, Paul Caillard, initially selected this property as its meeting place. Clément-Bayard, also known as Bayard-Clément, was a French manufacturer of automobiles, aeroplanes and airships founded in 1903 by entrepreneur Adolphe Clément-Bayard, Gustave Adolphe Clément. Clément obtained consent from the Conseil d'Etat (France), Conseil d'Etat to change his name to that of his business in 1909. The extra name celebrated the Knight, Chevalier Pierre Terrail, seigneur de Bayard who saved the town of Mézières in 1521. A statue of the Chevalier stood in front of Clément's Mézières factory, and the image was incorporated into the company logo. Delage is a French luxury automobile and racecar company founded in 1905 by Louis Delâge in Levallois-Perret near Paris; it was acquired by Delahaye in 1935 and ceased operation in 1953. Henri Chapron (30 December 1886 - 14 May 1978) was a prominent French automobile coachbuilder. His coachworks, carrosserie, created in 1919, was located in the Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret.
