Leung Yiu-chung
Leung Yiu-chung (, born 19 May 1953) is a Hong Kong politician. He is a member of the pro-labour Neighbourhood and Worker's Service Centre, which is a part of the pan-democracy camp. He has had a long-standing tenure as a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Between 1998 and 2016, he represented the New Territories West geographical constituency, and from 2016 to 2020, he represented the District Council (Second) functional constituency. Leung has also served as a member of the Kwai Tsing District Council since 1985. Early career Leung received his Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from the University of Essex and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Hong Kong. After returning from the United Kingdom in 1978, Leung joined the New Youth Study Society, a labour school founded by activist Lau Shan-ching in Tsuen Wan, as a lecturer. The Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China ( zh, link=no, t=香港市民支援愛國民主運動聯合會; abbr. ; ) was a pro-democracy organisation that was established on 21 May 1989 in the then British Hong Kong, British colony of Hong Kong during the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests and massacre in Beijing. After the 4 June massacre, the organisation main goals were the rehabilitation of the democracy movement and the accountability for the massacre. The main activities the organisation held were the annual Memorials for the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, memorials and commemorations, of which the candlelight vigil in Victoria Park (Hong Kong), Victoria Park was the most attended, reported and discussed event each year. Kwai Fong Estate
Kwai Fong Estate () is a public housing estate in Kwai Fong, Kwai Chung, New Territories, Hong Kong. It was built in the reclaimed land of Gin Drinkers Bay, later the town centre of Kwai Chung, south of Kwai Hing Estate. Kwai Fong station is named after the name of the estate. It comprises twelve buildings with a total of 6,400 units and a shopping arcade. Background Before redevelopment, it consisted of 11 buildings which were completed between 1971 and 1973. In 1982, the buildings were revealed to have structural defects. In 1985, the HKHA announced that the strength of the concrete in blocks 8, 9, 10 and 11 of Kwai Fong Estate was below standard. Those blocks were demolished between 1985 and 1989. Other old buildings were also demolished in the 1990s to cope with the estate redevelopment. Tsuen Wan
Tsuen Wan (formerly also spelled Tsun Wan) is a New towns of Hong Kong, town built on a bay in the New Territories West (constituency), western New Territories of Hong Kong, opposite Tsing Yi, Tsing Yi Island across Rambler Channel. The market town of Tsuen Wan emerged from the surrounding villages and fleets of fishing boats in the area. The modern city is centered the Tsuen Wan station of the MTR. The Kwai Tsing District Council () is the district council of Hong Kong, district council for the Kwai Tsing District in Hong Kong. It is one of 18 such councils.
