"Let Me Hold You" is a song by American rapper Bow Wow. It was the first single off his fourth album, '' Wanted'' (2005). Released on March 11, 2005, the song features American R&B singer Omarion (the first collaboration they did together). It was co-written and co-produced by frequent producer Jermaine Dupri and No I.D. and uses a sample of Luther Vandross' 1985 version of Brenda Russell's "If Only for One Night". The song received positive reviews from critics. "Let Me Hold You" peaked at number four on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, making this the first top 10 hit for both Bow Wow and for Omarion as a solo artist. It also became a number-one hit for both artists on the Hot Rap Songs chart and stayed there for seven weeks. The song also peaked at numbers 2 and 10 on both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Mainstream Top 40 charts respectively, and reached the top 40 in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Bow Wow (rapper)
Shad Gregory Moss (born March 9, 1987), better known by his stage name Bow Wow (formerly Lil' Bow Wow), is an American Rapping, rapper and actor. His career began upon being discovered by rapper Snoop Dogg in 1993 at the age of six; five years later, he signed with record producer Jermaine Dupri's So So Def Recordings, an imprint of Columbia Records. As Lil' Bow Wow, he released his debut studio album, ''Beware of Dog (album), Beware of Dog'' (2000) at age 13, and his second album, ''Doggy Bag'' (2001) the following year. Both met with commercial success, the albums peaked at numbers 10 and 11 on the Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200, respectively. In sound and music, sampling is the reuse of a portion (or sample) of a sound recording in another recording. Samples may comprise elements such as rhythm, melody, speech, or sound effects. A sample might comprise only a fragment of sound, or a longer portion of music, such as a drum beat or melody. Omari Ishmael Grandberry (born November 12, 1984), better known by his stage name Omarion, is an American R&B singer, dancer and actor. He rose to prominence as lead vocalist of the boy band B2K, which was formed in 1998 and managed by record executive Chris Stokes. The group achieved success in the early 2000s with their singles "Gots ta Be", " Uh Huh", "Girlfriend", and the ''Billboard'' Hot 100-number one hit "Bump, Bump, Bump" (featuring P. Diddy). Bryan Barber (born December 20, 1970) is a music video and motion picture filmmaker. He has directed many music videos for popular artists, including Outkast's "The Way You Move" and " The Whole World". Barber is known for sprinkling scenes from classic film and television into his music videos. Barber's first feature film was 2006's '' Idlewild'', which he wrote, directed, and co-produced. The film is a 1930s musical set in the fictional Georgia town of Idlewild. The film starred Outkast (whose members are André 3000 and Big Boi), Paula Patton, Terrence Howard and Faizon Love. Outkast contributed a song and also produced an accompanying soundtrack album.
