Lester Hammond, Jr.
Lester Hammond Jr. (March 25, 1931 – August 14, 1952) was a soldier in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He joined the Army from Quincy, Illinois in 1948, and posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his actions on August 14, 1952. The 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment (Rakkasans) is a regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. , the 1st and 3rd battalions are the only active elements of the regiment; they are assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
