Leslie George Johnson (22 March 1912 – 8 June 1959) was a British racing driver who competed in rallies, hill climbs, sports car races and Grand Prix races. Overview Leslie Johnson was born in Walthamstow, at that time one of London's poorest districts, and he spent his early years there. His father, a cabinet maker, died soon after starting his own business. Johnson, left with a mother and younger brother to support even though he was still in his teens, took charge of the firm. The employees responded to his enlightened, philanthropic management with a loyalty and dedication which, allied to Johnson's astute business brain, helped create the successful furniture manufacturing business that funded his entry into motor sport. Leslie Ellen Johnson is a former council member of Prince George's County, Maryland who represented the county's sixth district. She is the wife of former county executive Jack B. Johnson. Career On November 12, 2010, FBI agents arrested both her and her husband. She was sworn in on December 6, 2010, amidst opposition from five of the nine council members. Leslie Johnson had been scheduled to plead guilty to federal charges on May 3, 2011, but the hearing was abruptly canceled. On May 17, 2011, Jack Johnson pleaded guilty to extortion and witness- and evidence-tampering. Leslie Johnson pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges on June 30, 2011. Maryland state law requires that Johnson, as a convicted felon, resign once she is sentenced. Leslie Peter Johnson (3 July 1930 – 16 December 2016), also known as Peter Johnson, L. Peter Johnson, or L. P. Johnson, was a British Germanist, who specialized in the literature of the Middle High German "golden age". He was Reader in Medieval German Literature at the University of Cambridge and a fellow of Pembroke College. Biography Leslie Peter Johnson was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England on 3 July 1930. He was a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and held ministerial office in the Whitlam government, serving as Minister for Housing (1972–1973), Works (1973), Housing and Construction (1973–1975), and Aboriginal Affairs (1975). He represented the Division of Hughes in New South Wales from 1955 to 1966 and from 1969 to 1983. He later served as High Commissioner to New Zealand from 1984 to 1985, cutting short his term due to his daughter's ill health. Sir Leslie Wilson Johnson, (2 April 1916 – 31 August 2000) was an Australian public servant and diplomat. Career Johnson first went to Papua New Guinea in 1962. From 1966 to 1969, he was Assistant Administrator in Papua and New Guinea. He resigned in 1969 after internal differences with colleagues, before being appointed Administrator of Papua New Guinea in 1970. His task was to develop a colonial Administrator's council into a cabinet in preparation for Papua New Guinea's independence. On 1 December 1973, after 60 years of Papua New Guinea being a territory of Australia, Johnson's role changed from the Administrator of Papua New Guinea to the Australian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea. Johnson left Papua New Guinea in March 1974, to take up a post as the head of the new Australian Development Assistance Agency.
