Leslie 'Lee' Kasumba (born September 2, 1980) Leslie "Lee" Kasumba is a Ugandan radio and TV presenter, media personality, writer, singer, and songwriter in Africa. She has worked as the Head of Channel O Africa since 2011 and is one of the most influential and reputable media personalities in Africa. Early life Leslie Kasumba was born in Cuba and raised in South Africa. Her parents initially wanted her to study something more academic, but by the time she was 19, she began working as a Dj and entered the field of entertainment. Channel O is a South African-based music channel which first started transmission in 1997. Its main concept is African music in Africa and the diaspora. Channel O can be accessed via DStv, a satellite pay TV service for pan-African households. The channel broadcasts a variety of music videos. It also holds the annual Channel O Music Video Awards ceremony, where artists are awarded for their outstanding contribution to music. Channel O, in recent years, has lost a significant amount of popularity mainly due to the launch of rival channels MTV Base Africa, Trace Urban and Trace Africa. South Africa Music Awards
The South African Music Awards (often simply the SAMAs) are the Recording Industry of South Africa's music industry awards, established in 1995. The ceremony is held annually, usually in late April or May, with the judging process starting in November of the previous year. The nominations are typically announced at the end of March.
