Alain-René Lesage
Alain-René Lesage (; 6 May 166817 November 1747; older spelling Le Sage) was a French novelist and playwright. Lesage is best known for his comic novel '' The Devil upon Two Sticks'' (1707, ''Le Diable boiteux''), his comedy '' Turcaret'' (1709), and his picaresque novel '' Gil Blas'' (1715–1735). Life Youth and education Claude Lesage, the father of the novelist, held the united positions of advocate, notary and registrar of the royal court in Rhuys. His mother's name was Jeanne Brenugat. Both Lesage's father and mother died when Lesage was very young, and he was left in the care of his uncle who wasted his education and fortune. Bochard, of the Order of the Jesuits, Principal of the College in Vannes, became interested in the boy on account of his natural talents. Bochard cultivated Lesage's taste for literature. Georges-Louis Le Sage
Georges-Louis Le Sage (; 13 June 1724 – 20 November 1803) was a Genevan physicist and is most known for his theory of gravitation, for his invention of an electric telegraph and his anticipation of the kinetic theory of gases. He was a contributor to Diderot's ''Encyclopédie''. Life and education Le Sage was born in Geneva, his father, a descendant of Théodore Agrippa d'Aubigné, was Georges-Louis Le Sage from Couches in Burgundy, and his mother Anne Marie Camp. His father, who was the author of many papers on various subjects, occupied his son of his own studies early, including the works of the Roman poet Lucretius at the age of 13. According to Pierre Prévost and some notices of Le Sage, the education by his parents in his early years was very strict, and Le Sage reacted to this by isolating himself and with meditation on various subjects. Lesage, West Virginia
Lesage is a census-designated place (CDP) on Ohio River Road in Cabell County, West Virginia, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,290 (down from 1,358 at the 2010 census). It is the nearest community to the Clover site, a National Historic Landmark. Lesage is a part of the Huntington-Ashland Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). As of the 2010 census, the MSA had a population of 287,702. New definitions from February 28, 2013, placed the population at 363,000. The community was named after Jules F. M. Jean-Lesage
Jean-Lesage is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It consists of parts of the Beauport and La Cité-Limoilou boroughs of Quebec City. It was created for the 2003 election from most of the former Limoilou and part of Montmorency electoral districts. Even earlier, before Limoilou, the electoral district of Québec-Est existed in the same general area. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost some territory to Montmorency but gained some territory from Taschereau; it also gained a tiny amount of territory from Charlesbourg.
