Les Guice
Leslie Keith Guice (born December 23, 1954) is the 14th president of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. Guice, who holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, succeeded Dan Reneau as the Louisiana Tech president after a long career at the institution as a student, professor, dean, and vice president of research. Education In 1976, Guice received his Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture from Louisiana Tech University. He remained at Louisiana Tech until 1978, when he received a master's degree in Civil Engineering and immediately moved to a position as an assistant professor in Tech's department of Civil Engineering. Louisiana Tech University
Louisiana Tech University (Louisiana Tech, La. Tech, or simply Tech) is a public research university in Ruston, Louisiana. It is part of the University of Louisiana System and classified among "R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity". Louisiana Tech opened as the Industrial Institute and College of Louisiana in 1894 during the Second Industrial Revolution. The original mission of the college was for the education of students in the arts and sciences for the purpose of developing an industrial economy in post- Reconstruction Louisiana. Four years later in 1898, the state constitution changed the school's name to Louisiana Industrial Institute. In 1921, the college changed its name to Louisiana Polytechnic Institute to reflect its development as a larger institute of technology. Louisiana Tech University College Of Engineering And Science
The College of Engineering and Science (COES) is one of five colleges at Louisiana Tech University. The roots of the College date back to the founding of Louisiana Tech in 1894 when the Department of Mechanics was created. Today, the college includes twenty-five programs, fourteen undergraduate, seven master's, and four doctoral programs. College programs are located on the Louisiana Tech campus in Ruston, Louisiana. Dan Reneau
Daniel Dugan Reneau, Jr. (born June 11, 1940) is the former president of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, a position which he filled from July 1, 1987, until his retirement effective June 30, 2013. He was succeeded by Dr. Les Guice. Background A native of Woodville in southwestern Mississippi, Reneau graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He earned a master's degree in 1964 from the same institution. He received his Ph.D. in 1966 from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. Reneau returned to Louisiana Tech in 1967 to serve as an assistant professor of chemical engineering. He became an associate professor in 1969 and was promoted to full professor in 1973. In 1972, Reneau established the Louisiana Tech biomedical engineering department, only the fifth undergraduate program of its kind, and was named its head.
