Les Gock
Leslie Gock (born 1954) is an Australian musician, producer and sound designer. He joined the glam rock band Hush in 1972. Gock played lead guitar, and was also a song writer and co-producer. The group received 12 gold records during his time in the band. After leaving Hush in 1976, Gock became a music and sound design director for film and television soundtracks, receiving industry recognition by Gold Clios, Facts Awards, and New York International Advertising Festival Awards. Gock also wrote the club song for the Canberra Raiders Rugby League team. Biography Leslie Gock was born in 1954. He was a member of a school-based band in 1970, he remembered their first gig, "an audience of a thousand kids." In 1971 he began as a music and sound designer for film and TV. Hush (band)
Hush were an Australian glam rock pop band, which formed in 1971 and disbanded in 1977. For most of that time their line-up was lead singer Keith Lamb with Les Gock on lead guitar, Rick Lum on bass guitar and Chris 'Smiley' Pailthorpe on drums. They had top 10 hits on the Kent Music Report with their cover versions of " Bony Moronie" and " Glad All Over" (both 1975). The group frequently appeared on the TV pop music show, '' Countdown'', and toured nationally. ''The Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop'' or ''Rock and Pop'' by Australian music journalist Ian McFarlane is a guide to Australian popular music from the 1950s to the late 1990s. The book has a similar title to the 1978 work by Noel McGrath, '' Australian Encyclopaedia of Rock and Pop'', but is not otherwise related. Publishers, Allen & Unwin described McFarlane's encyclopedia as containing over 870 entries and an "essential reference to the bands and artists who molded the shape of Australian popular music ..in an A-to-Z encyclopedia format complete with biographical and historical details. Long Way To The Top
''Long Way to the Top'' was a six-part weekly Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) documentary film series on the history of Australian rock and roll, from 1956 to the modern era, it was initially broadcast from 8 August to 12 September 2001. One of its writers, James Cockington, provided a book tie-in, ''Long Way to the Top: Stories of Australian Rock & Roll'' (2001). Another series writer, and interviewer, Clinton Walker, compiled a 2-disc CD soundtrack album, ''Long Way to the Top: Original Soundtrack from the ABC-TV Series'' (13 August 2001), by Various Artists, which featured in the show. It peaked at No. 9 on the ARIA Albums Chart. A year later a related national concert tour followed. St Leonards, New South Wales
St Leonards is a suburb on the lower North Shore of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. St Leonards is located north-west of the Sydney central business district and lies across the local government areas of Municipality of Lane Cove, North Sydney Council and the City of Willoughby. History St Leonards was named after English statesman Viscount Sydney of St Leonards. Originally, St Leonards applied to the whole area from the present suburb of North Sydney to Gore Hill. The township of St Leonards in 1883 is now North Sydney. The oldest railway station on the North Shore line opened in 1890 in St Leonards and originally only ran to Hornsby. Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, '' Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top-40 Singles from 1966, and Album charts from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations. Glam rock is a style of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s and was performed by musicians who wore outrageous costumes, makeup, and hairstyles, particularly platform shoes and glitter. Adam Gock
Adam Gock is an Australian composer, creative director and music entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of The D.A's Office, a music production and composition house specializing in music for screen. Career Gock is a featured composer on the scores for over 300 TV series, and together with his creative and business partner Dinesh Wicks has won the APRA AMCOS Screen Music Award for 'Most Performed Composer – Australia' nine times (2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2015, 2012, 2011). Gock and Wicks were recognized for their contribution to the Australian music industry in 2014 with the coveted APRA AMCOS International Achievement Award.
