Leroidesanimaux (September 27, 2000 – May 27, 2016) was a Thoroughbred racehorse who competed in Brazil and was an Eclipse Award winner in the United States. Background His name was four French-language words combined. ''Le roi des animaux'' translates as "The king of the animals." Bred by Haras Bage Do Sul at Aceguá, Rio Grande do Sul, he was out of the mare Dissemble and sired by Candy Stripes who also sired Invasor, the horse ranked No.1 in the world for 2006. George DeBenedicty (born June 12, 1949) foundePegasus Realty & Associates, Inc.in Ocala, Florida, in 1982. Since then he has sold over $600 million of farms, training centers and acreages; becoming the leader in equine property sales. DeBenedicty owns and operates American Eagle Farm in Ocala, races his thoroughbred race horses on both the East and West coast, is very involved in horse breeding and is also involved in the hunter/jumper show circuit. Early life DeBenedicty was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. At age 16 he won the Hungarian modern pentathlon championships. When he turned 17 he began competing all across Europe; in France, Austria, Germany and Poland, representing the Hungarian national team. He immigrated to New York City at the age of 18. Blushing Groom
Blushing Groom (8 April 1974 – 6 May 1992) was a French champion Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Background He was bred by American businessman John McNamee Sullivan and was raced by HH Aga Khan IV. A descendant of Nearco, Blushing Groom was sired by Red God and out of the mare Runaway Bride. He was trained by François Mathet in France. Racing record Blushing Groom raced six times in 1976 at age two. He finished third in his debut, then won the next five races, including four Group One events, capturing the Prix Robert Papin, Prix Morny, Prix de la Salamandre, and Grand Critérium. His performances earned him French Champion Two-Year-Old honors. The Woodbine Mile is a Grade I stakes race on turf for Thoroughbred racehorses three years old and up held annually in mid September at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Canada. Currently sponsored by Ricoh, the Woodbine Mile offers a purse of Can$1,000,000. Part of the Breeders' Cup Challenge series, the winner of the Woodbine Mile automatically qualifies for the Breeders' Cup Mile. The inaugural race in 1988 was sponsored by Molson Breweries with a purse of $750,000 and run as the Molson Export Challenge, reflecting the name of the company's flagship beer. The Fourstardave Handicap is a Grade I American Thoroughbred horse race for horses that are three years old or older over a distance of one mile on the turf course scheduled annually in August at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. The event currently carries a purse of $500,000. History The event was inaugurated on 31 July 1985, Opening Day of the Saratoga meeting for that year as the Daryl's Joy Stakes at a distance of miles and was won by Roving Minstrel who was ridden by United States' Racing Hall of Fame jockey Ángel Cordero Jr. in a time of 1:45. The Last Tycoon Stakes (formerly known as the Inglewood Handicap) is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually in late April at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California. First run in 1938, the race is open to horses three years old and up. A Grade III stakes, it is raced on turf at a distance of miles (8.5 Furlongs). The event currently offers a purse of $100,000. The Last Tycoon Stakes was run in two divisions in 1975, 1976, 1978, and 1979. The race was increased in length to 1 and 1/8th mile in 2012. Candy Stripes Candy Stripes (April 12, 1982 – February 28, 2007) was an American thoroughbred race horse and sire. A descendant of the great Nearco through his sire, Blushing Groom, he was out of the mare Bubble Company, a granddaughter of the 20th Century's greatest sire of sires, Northern Dancer. Candy Stripes is best known as the sire of 2007 American Horse of the Year, Invasor, and the 2005 American Champion Male Turf Horse, Leroidesanimaux. Candy Stripes was also the broodmare sire of the unbeaten, Candy Ride. Bred in Kentucky by Allen Cowen, Candy Stripes raced in France, winning two of six races and running second in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Fr-I). He was returned to North America in 1986, then was sent to Argentina two years later to stand at stud.
