Leonid Tyagachyov
Leonid Vasilievich Tyagachyov (; born October 10, 1946) is a Russian politician, sportsman and honorary president of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC). Between 2001 and 2010, Tyagachyov served as President of the Russian Olympic Committee. Early life Tyagachyov was a skier representing the Soviet Union and became champion of the USSR. During his time as a skier, he participated in several international competitions. Tyagachyov was champion of the USSR among teams of physical culture for football, and also a master of sports of the USSR in football. The Order of Honour () is a state order of the Russian Federation established by Decree of the President of Russia, Presidential Decree No. 442 of March 2, 1994 to recognise high achievements in government, economic, scientific, sociocultural, public, sport and charitable activities. Its statute was amended by decree No. 19 of January 6, 1999 and more lately by decree No. 1099 of January 7, 2010 which defined its present status. The award is the successor of the Soviet Order of the Badge of Honour (renamed Order of Honour in 1988). Olympic Order
The Olympic Order, established in 1975, is the highest award of the Olympic Movement. It is awarded for particularly distinguished contributions to the Olympic Movement, i.e. recognition of efforts worthy of merit in the cause of sport. Traditionally, the IOC bestows the Olympic Order upon the chief national organiser(s) at the closing ceremony of each respective Olympic Games. History The Olympic Order was established in May 1975 by the International Olympic Committee as a successor to the Olympic Diploma of Merit. The Medal "In Commemoration of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow" () is a commemorative medal of the Russian Federation created to denote the 850th anniversary of the city of Moscow. It was established on 26 February 1997 by Presidential Decree № 132. Its statute was defined on 21 March 1997 by Presidential Decree 223.
