Leonid Gerzhoy
Leonid Gerzhoy (born November 7, 1987) is a Canadian chess player who holds the FIDE title of International Master. Biography Gerzhoy was born on November 7, 1987, in Moscow and moved to Israel in 1992. He became an International Master there by 2002. In 2003 he played for Israel at World Youth Chess Olympiad in Denizli where he won 6th place and a rank of 8 points. In 2005 he immigrated to Canada and a year later won a second place at the Canadian Championship. In 2007 he became a winner of Canadian Junior Championship and by 2009 received a Grandmaster norm at the World Open. In 2010 he was a winner of the Reading Week Open tournament of Hart House and next year won again at the Philadelphia International with 8 out of 9 score. The same year, during Ontario Open he tied a 2nd-3rd game with Bator Sambuev. During the 2010 Chess Olympiad he won three games in a row with three draws out of nine games total. Bator Sambuev
Bator Sambuev (russian: Батор Самбуев; born November 25, 1980) is a Russian-Canadian chess player who holds the FIDE title of Grandmaster. He won the Canadian championship three times. Early life and career Born in Ulan-Ude, Russia, Sambuev was awarded by FIDE the titles of International Master in 1999 and Grandmaster in 2006. He immigrated to Toronto, Canada in June 2007 and moved to Montreal in 2010. He won the Canadian Closed Championship in 2011 after a two-game playoff against Eric Hansen. In 2012, Sambuev again won the Canadian championship, earning the right to play in the FIDE World Cup 2013, and took part for the first time in the Chess Olympiad, where he played for team Canada on the first board. Eric Hansen (born May 24, 1992) is a Canadian chess player and Twitch streamer. FIDE awarded him the title of Grandmaster in 2013. He competed in the FIDE World Cup in 2011 and 2013. Hansen has represented Canada in the Chess Olympiad since 2012. Biography Hansen holds a dual citizenship as a Canadian and American. The 39th Chess Olympiad (russian: 39-я Шахматная олимпиада, ''39-ya Shakhmatnaya olimpiada''), organised by FIDE and comprising an open and a women's tournament, as well as several other events designed to promote the game of chess, took place from September 19 to October 4, 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
