Leonhard Nagenrauft
Leonhard Nagenrauft (9 March 1938 in Bischofswiesen – 22 May 2017 in Berchtesgaden) was a West Germany, West German luger who competed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He won the silver medal in the men's singles event at the FIL World Luge Championships 1971, 1971 FIL World Luge Championships in Olang, Italy. Nagenrauft also won two medals in the men's singles event at the FIL European Luge Championships with a gold in FIL European Luge Championships 1967, 1967 and a bronze in FIL European Luge Championships 1972, 1972. Nagenrauft also competed in two Winter Olympics, earning his best finish of fifth in the men's singles event at Sapporo in 1972 Winter Olympics, 1972. Luge
A luge () is a small one- or two-person sled on which one sleds Supine position, supine (face-up) and feet-first. 1972 Winter Olympics
The 1972 Winter Olympics, officially the and commonly known as Sapporo 1972 (), were a winter multi-sport event held from February 3 to 13, 1972, in Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. It was the first Winter Olympic Games to take place outside Europe and North America. Host city selection Sapporo first won the rights to host the 1940 Winter Olympics, but Japan resigned as the Games' host after its Second Sino-Japanese War, 1937 invasion of China. The 1940 Games were later cancelled. All the cities awarded Games that were cancelled due to war have since hosted the Games (London, Tokyo, Helsinki, Sapporo and Cortina d'Ampezzo). Sapporo

FIL European Luge Championships
The FIL European Luge Championships, part of the International Luge Federation (FIL) have taken place since 1914. From 1914 to 1934, these championships were part of the Internationaler Schlittensportsverband (ISSV - International Sled Sport Federation in ). From 1935 to 1956, the championships were held under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT - International Bobsleigh and Tobagganing Federation in ). Since 1962, the event has been under the auspices of the FIL and has been held in even-numbered years since 1980. Since 2012, it is held annually within a preselected World Cup stages in the so-called race-in-race mode.
