Leonard Cohen
Leonard Norman Cohen (September 21, 1934November 7, 2016) was a Canadian songwriter, singer, poet, and novelist. Themes commonly explored throughout his work include faith and mortality, isolation and depression, betrayal and redemption, social and political conflict, and sexual and romantic love, desire, regret, and loss. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was invested as a Companion of the Order of Canada, the nation's highest civilian honour. In 2011, he received one of the Princess of Asturias Awards, Prince of Asturias Awards for literature and the ninth Glenn Gould Prize. In 2023, ''Rolling Stone'' named Cohen the 103rd-greatest singer. Cohen pursued a career as a poet and novelist during the 1950s and early 1960s, and did not begin a music career until 1966. Princess Of Asturias Awards
The Princess of Asturias Awards (, ), formerly the Prince of Asturias Awards from 1981 to 2014 (), are a series of annual prizes awarded in Spain by the Princess of Asturias Foundation (previously the Prince of Asturias Foundation) to individuals, entities or organizations from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, and public affairs. The awards are presented every October in a solemn ceremony at in Oviedo, the capital of the Asturias, Principality of Asturias, and are presented by the Princess of Asturias. Westmount () is a city on the Island of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It is an enclave of the city of Montreal, with a population of 19,658 as of the 2021 Canadian census. "Hallelujah" is a song written by Canadian singer Leonard Cohen, originally released on his album '' Various Positions'' (1984). Achieving little initial success, the song found greater popular acclaim through a new version recorded by John Cale in 1991. Harvey Phillip Spector (December 26, 1939 – January 16, 2021) was an American record producer and songwriter who is best known for pioneering recording practices in the 1960s, followed by his trials and conviction for murder in the 2000s. Spector developed the Wall of Sound, a production technique involving a densely texture (music), textured sound created through layering tone colors, resulting in a compression (music), compression and chorus (effect), chorusing effect not replicable through electronic means.
