Oingo Boingo () was an American new wave music, new wave band formed by songwriter Danny Elfman in 1979. Marc Mann
Marc Mann is an American keyboardist, guitarist, programmer, arranger and conductor. He has a Master's Degree in Music from UCLA. Mann is known for his work with Oingo Boingo, Jeff Lynne and the Electric Light Orchestra. Mann is credited as performer, arranger or producer on 54 albums. He is a long-time collaborator with Danny Elfman in such films as the ''Men in Black'' series, ''Mars Attacks!'', '' Sleepy Hollow'', plus many more. He is usually credited for MIDI supervision and some orchestrations. On stage he is recognisable because he usually wears a cap. Selected work Mann was supposed to play with the Electric Light Orchestra on their tour for the promotion of their album '' Zoom'', but the tour was cancelled. Warren Fitzgerald (born September 15, 1968) is an American punk rock guitarist, songwriter, and record label owner. He is best known for being the guitarist of The Vandals and Oingo Boingo. He is also co-founder of Kung Fu Records, along with his Vandals band-mate Joe Escalante. Early life Fitzgerald attended Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California, from 1982 to 1986, with Scott Weiland ( Stone Temple Pilots), Gabriel Ortiz (Serial Killer), and Amy von Freymann (MTV-Jay). Career Early years One of Fitzgerald's first bands was Dies Irae where he played bass with guitarist Jack Lee Galbraith (Taylor), and drummer Robert "Yoda" Hill. Carl Graves is a musician from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He has been a member of various groups in his career and had a number of hits in the 1970s. Early life and education Graves is from Alberta, Canada, and has been in bands since high school. Graves studied at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and completed his studies in jazz music. Career Achieving a degree of local fame in Canada, he was a member of the group Soul Unlimited. He later played percussion for Skylark and was also their third lead singer. ''Farewell: Live from the Universal Amphitheatre, Halloween 1995'' is a double live album and home video release by American new wave band Oingo Boingo, documenting their final concerts and ending on Halloween night of 1995. The band played a series of five nights, ending on Halloween night by playing more than 44 songs during a 4-hour set that went past midnight. As with all of their live shows, the setlist included songs from across the band's large discography, many of which were given new arrangements. Several of the tracks on the CD release were culled from recordings from previous nights in the same tour, meaning the performances occasionally differ between formats. "Just Another Day" and "Nothing to Fear (But Fear Itself)" were included as bonus tracks on the double cassette release. ''Boingo'' is the eighth and final studio album by American new wave band Oingo Boingo. It was the band's only album recorded for the label Giant Records. With ''Boingo'', the band's sound changed to a guitar-driven rock style, with Danny Elfman having released the keyboard and horn players after the first recording attempt. Background After 1990's '' Dark at the End of the Tunnel'', frontman Danny Elfman felt he was again "starting to get bored" with the band's musical direction and that a change was necessary to stay active. In 1994, he decided to reshuffle the band's line-up without a horn section or keyboards and add second guitarist Warren Fitzgerald. ''Dark at the End of the Tunnel'' is the seventh studio album by American new wave band Oingo Boingo, released in 1990 by MCA Records. Music ''Dark at the End of the Tunnel'' marked Oingo Boingo's move toward a more pure pop sound, eschewing the hyper, frantic style exemplified on previous records for a more mainstream, less formally innovative approach, with an emphasis on emotional, positive lyrics. By the time of the album's recording, frontman Danny Elfman had become a famed film composer, particularly in collaboration with Tim Burton. Two tracks on the album had previously emerged on movie soundtracks: "Try to Believe" first appeared as an instrumental in the 1988 film ''Midnight Run'' (scored by Elfman), and "Flesh 'N Blood" had first appeared on the soundtrack of ''Ghostbusters II'' (1989). ''Boingo Alive'' is a double album by American new wave band Oingo Boingo, released in 1988 by MCA Records. It was performed and recorded live in a rehearsal studio with no audience, with the band performing songs from previous albums and two previously unreleased songs to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the band's beginning. Background According to the ''Los Angeles Times'', as well as the album's sleeve sticker and promotional material, ''Boingo Alive'' was recorded live on a soundstage over nine nights in July 1988. The sticker and ads also read, "Hear our greatest hits the way they were meant to be heard—live". After Oingo Boingo migrated from A&M Records/I.R.S. Records to MCA Records in 1984, A&M had retained ownership of the band's previous recordings, but by 1988 the band became legally able to re-record their old material. The tracks "Pain", "We Close Our Eyes" and "Not My Slave" were released as singles. Production ''Boi-Ngo'' was the third Oingo Boingo album to be self-produced by Danny Elfman and Steve Bartek (including ''So-Lo''). Dead Man's Party (album)
''Dead Man's Party'' is the fifth album by American new wave band Oingo Boingo, released in 1985 by MCA Records. The album contains the only two singles by the band to chart on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100: "Weird Science" at number 45, and "Just Another Day" at number 85. The album was the band's first to be certified gold for sales of 500,000 units. The album cover art is an homage to the Mexican holiday Día de Los Muertos. Composition Elfman stated that he wrote the album's lead single, "Weird Science", spontaneously in his car, after receiving a call from director John Hughes about composing a song for his upcoming film of the same name. The song went on to become the band's most commercially successful single, which Elfman later regretted, as he believed it "just didn't feel like it was really a part of he band'srepertoire". John Avila
John Avila (born January 14, 1957) is an American bassist and music producer, best known for being in the new wave band Oingo Boingo from 1984 to 1995. John is currently touring with Walter Trout. Career Avila co-founded the music group Food for Feet in 1981, and played with them until 1991. In 1984, he joined Oingo Boingo, replacing bassist Kerry Hatch. He played with Oingo Boingo until 1995.
