Leon Janney
Leon Janney (April 1, 1917 – October 28, 1980) was an American actor and radio personality from 1920 to 1980. Career Leon Elbert Janney was born in Ogden, Utah, to Nathan Haines Janney and Bernice Rebecca Kohn. The names of his parents are confirmed in both Janney’s death certificate (available in Ancestry.com) and in a birth announcement in ''The Ogden Standard'', April 4, 1917. His mother had reportedly performed using the name Bernice Raymon (''The Washington Post'', Oct. 31, 1915), or Ramon (''Philadelphia Inquirer'' April 1, 1934). The story in the ''Inquirer'' states that Janney’s mother gave him the stage name Laon Ramon after moving to Los Angeles to seek more acting work for him. A story by Harold W. Cohen in the March 12, 1931 ''Pittsburgh Post-Gazette'' includes details about why the stage name was abandoned and Janney returned to using his birth name, Leon Janney, professionally. Plot Spud wants to go camping and shoot many bears with Jackie, Chubby, and Farina. But his mother has forced him to look after his little brother Wheezer, who has the croup. In caring for his brother he must periodically apply ointment to his chest. He tells his friends he must stay home and grease Wheezer. ''The Edge of Night'' is an American television mystery crime drama series and soap opera, created by Irving Vendig and produced by Procter & Gamble Productions. It debuted on CBS on April 2, 1956, and ran as a live broadcast on that network for most of its run until November 28, 1975. Rheingold Beer
Rheingold Brewery was a New York state brewery which sold Rheingold Beer from 1883 to 1976. The brewery held 35% of the state's beer market at its peak. The company was sold by the founding Jewish American Liebmann family in 1963. According to ''The New York Times'', "Rheingold Beer was once a top New York brew, guzzled regularly by a loyal cadre of workingmen, who would just as soon have eaten nails as drink another beer maker's suds." In 1966 it introduced Gablinger's Beer, one of the first reduced calorie beers, which was brewed using a process originated by chemist Dr. Hersch Gablinger of Basel, Switzerland. Rheingold shut down operations in 1976, when they were unable to compete with large national breweries, as corporate consolidation and the rise of national breweries led to the demise of dozens of regional breweries.
