Leon Greenwood
Leon Greenwood (born 13 June 1997) is a British bobsledder. He was a bronze medalist in the four-man bobsleigh in the 2024–25 Bobsleigh World Cup and at the 2025 European Championships. Career Athletics From Batley, he was a member of Spenborough Harriers in Yorkshire. He competed in athletics as a sprinter. He became Welsh 200 metres champion and a finalist at the British indoor athletics championships, before suffering an angle injury that required surgery and a two-year rehabilitation period. He later worked as a sprint coach at The Newbury Athletics Club in Berkshire. Bobsleigh After a society talent ID day at the University of Bath, Greenwood joined the British Bobsleigh programme in 2022. Bobsleigh or bobsled is a winter sport in which teams of 2 to 4 athletes make timed speed runs down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks in a gravity-powered sleigh. International bobsleigh competitions are governed by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (formerly the FIBT). The first bobsleds were built in the late 19th century in St. Moritz, Switzerland, by wealthy tourists from Victorian Britain who were staying at the Badrutt's Palace Hotel, Palace Hotel owned by Caspar Badrutt. Taylor Lawrence (born 13 August 1996) is a British bobsledder. Career He was an amateur footballer, cricketer and rugby player alongside his career as a lance corporal in the Royal Marines. He first tried bobsled in 2019. After progressing to the British team, he was a member of the four-man crew which finished sixth in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. He was a gold medalist with the British four-man team at the IBSF European Championships 2023 in Germany. He was a silver medalist in the Four-man bobsled at the IBSF World Championships 2023 in St Moritz, Switzerland. For the Great Britain team, it was a first four-man World Championships medal in 84 years. Lacrosse is a contact team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. He took part in athletics and judo and participated in CrossFit before forging a bobsleigh career. He was British schools judo Champion in 2015, and has a 100m sprint time of 10.75 seconds.
