Leo Gauriloff
Leo Gauriloff (5 October 1956 – 23 August 2019) was a Skolt Sami language, Skolt Sámi singer, guitarist and composer. He was known mainly for playing acoustic steel string guitars, but he also played other acoustic string instruments, such the Sambur (musical instrument), sambur, the mandola, the buzuki, as well as synthesizers. Gauriloff grew up in Mustola, Inari, Finland, Inari, in the vicinity of Nellim. He lost his mother in an act of murder, which upset the whole village. He was then raised by his grandmother, from whom he learnt the Skolt Sámi language. Gauriloff built his first guitar from particle board, and he would amplify the sound by pressing it against the boiling pot of the sauna. There were others, too, in the family who had an active interest in cultural matters. Music became the choice of career for Leo Gauriloff and his older brother Jaakko Gauriloff, Jaakko (born 1939). Seinäjoki
Seinäjoki (; "Wall River"; la, Wegelia, formerly sv, Östermyra) is a city located in South Ostrobothnia, Finland; east of Vaasa, north of Tampere, west of Jyväskylä and southwest of Oulu. Provinssirock
Provinssirock is one of the biggest rock festivals in Finland. It takes place in the city of Seinäjoki in Southern Ostrobothnia, Western Finland. The two- or three-day festival, which starts the busy Finnish rock festival season, has been held every June since 1979. The 2007 festival had a combined three-day total crowd of 55,000. In 2008 Provinssirock was organised on 13-15 June, and was sold out with a combined three-day total of 75,000 attendees watching bands and rock artists such as Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Nightwish, The Sounds, Billy Talent and Serj Tankian. Piirpauke
Piirpauke is a Finnish musical group combining free jazz, flamenco, mbalax, Arabesque, carnatic, romantic, modern, classical, humppa, impressionist, hindustani, salsa, Amharic, Lappjoik, Tibetan, Balkan, Karelian, Finnish, national romantic and rock music influences (among others) in their compositions.
