Leni Alexander
Leni Alexander (8 June 1924 – 7 August 2005) was a German-Chilean composer. Biography Helene Alexander Pollak was born in Breslau, in Lower Silesia (now Wrocław, Poland), and her family lived in Hamburg and then emigrated to Chile in 1939 to escape the Nazis. She studied piano under the Montessori system of music and received a diploma in 1942 for teaching and worked with youth and disabled children while developing an interest in composition. Between 1949 and 1953, she studied with Fré Focke, Rene Leibowitz, and Olivier Messiaen. In Europe she became a friend of Bruno Maderna and Pierre Boulez. Between 1963 and 1968, she also studied electronic music and wrote a number of electronic pieces. She received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1969 and lived for several years in Paris and Cologne. Leni Shida
Shida Leni (born 22 May 1994) is a Ugandan sprinter. Early life Shida was born in Arua in 1994 as the daughter of Abdulatif Tiyua, a retired military officer and former deputy commander the West Nile Bank Front rebel group. Career After Kevin and Sue O'Connor began coaching Shida in August 2013, she represented Uganda at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow reaching the semifinals. This was her first competition outside of Uganda. In February 2018, in Kampala, she ran 52.47 to break the 12-year-old 400m National Record. She has now broken this record on 7 occasions, most recently at the 2019 National Championships (51.47), where she also broke the 12-year-old 200m National Record with a time of 23.43. Leni Yahil (; 1912–2007), née Leni Westphal, was a German-born Israeli historian, specializing in the Holocaust and Danish Jewry. Early life Leni was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1912, and was raised in Potsdam, Germany. She was a sixth-generation descent of Moses Mendelssohn's family, as well as a granddaughter of James Simon. Her father, Ernst Westphal, was a judge. Yahil studied history at the universities of Munich and Berlin. Leni Stern (born 28 April 1952) is a German jazz guitarist and singer. Early life Stern was born Magdalena Thora, in Germany on 28 April 1952. She was interested in music from an early age, beginning piano studies at the age of six and taking on the guitar a few years later.
