Len Mann
Len "Moose" Mann (born 21 August 1938) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne in the VFL during the early 1960s. Mann, originally from Merbein, where he won the Sunraysia Football League's Under 16 best and fairest award in 1954, the Under 18 award in 1955 and Merbein Football Club's reserves best and fairest award in 1956. Mann was Melbourne's first choice ruckman in their 1960 VFL premiership side. 1960 VFL Season
The 1960 VFL season was the 64th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 16 April until 24 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Melbourne Football Club for the eleventh time and second time consecutively, after it defeated by 48 points in the 1960 VFL Grand Final. Background In 1960, the VFL competition consisted of twelve teams of 18 on-the-field players each, plus two substitute players, known as the 19th man and the 20th man. Hassa Mann
Harold Peter "Hassa" Mann (born 9 October 1940) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for and captained Melbourne in the VFL during the 1960s. He earned the name Hassa when he was a toddler, from his cousin and future Melbourne footballer Len Mann. Mann was originally from Merbein, where he won the Sunraysia Football League's Under 16 best and fairest award in 1956. A centreman, Mann was recruited from Rutherglen, Victoria and made his debut for Melbourne in their premiership season of 1959. He was a premiership player again the following season and went on to become the club captain in 1965, a position he kept for four seasons. Mann finished in the top 10 of the Brownlow Medal count four times, including placing equal 7th in 1966 and equal 5th in 1967.
