Len Killeen
Leonard Michael Anthony "Len"/"Lenny The Lion" Killeen (19 November 1938 – 31 October 2011) was a South African basketball player, rugby union and rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. Killeen was born in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, and played rugby union for Uitenhage RFC (in Uitenhage). A Goal (sports), goal-kicking , he played rugby league in England for St Helens R.F.C., St. Helens, with whom he won the Challenge Cup in 1966. Killeen also played in Australia for the Balmain Tigers, Balmain, winning the NSWRFL premiership with them in 1969 and becoming the club's all-time top point-scorer. Gqeberha ( , ), formerly named Port Elizabeth, and colloquially referred to as P.E., is a major seaport and the most populous city in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. 1964–65 Northern Rugby Football League Season
The 1964–65 Rugby Football League season was the 70th season of rugby league football. Rule change * Substitutes were introduced. They were initially only for players injured in the time up to and including half time. Season summary 1964-65 saw the two divisions of rugby league merge back into one single league. The championship play-offs returned to decide the champions. A new top 16 play-off format was introduced rather than top four system used between 1905–06 and 1962–63. A Bottom 14 Championship was also introduced for the remaining clubs who finished below the top 16, although some clubs declined to take part. St. Helens had finished the regular season as league leaders. Halifax won their third Championship when they beat St. Helens 15-7 in the play-off final. The Swinton Lions are a professional rugby league club based in Swinton, Greater Manchester, England, which competes in the RFL League 1 . The club has won the Rugby Football League Championship, Championship six times and three Challenge Cups. Before 1996, the club was known simply as Swinton RLFC.
