Len Armitage
Leonard Armitage (20 October 1899 – 24 June 1972) was an English footballer who could play both in defence and attack. He made a total of 284 league appearances in a 15-year career in the Football League. In 1914, he signed with Sheffield Wednesday. He moved on to Leeds United in August 1920, before joining Wigan Borough in 1923, where he scored a remarkable 21 goals in 23 games. The following year he signed with Stoke City, and remained with the club for seven seasons, helping the "Potters" to the Third Division North title in 1926–27. He had a brief spell with Rhyl Athletic before ending his career in 1934 following a two-year spell with Port Vale. The Football League Second Division was the second level division in the English football league system between 1892 and 1992. Following the foundation of the FA Premier League, the Football League divisions were renumbered and the third tier became known as the Football League Second Division. After the rebranding of the Football League in 2003–04, it became known as Football League One. Andy Smith (footballer, Born 1890)
Andrew Walter Smith (April 1890 – 1968) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward or inside right. He scored 54 goals from 141 appearances in the Football League. Career Smith was born in Camberwell, London. He joined Birmingham as an amateur in 1912 and turned professional two years later. Before the First World War interrupted his career, he played two full seasons and was Birmingham's leading goalscorer in each. He made guest appearances for Manchester City during the war. Before League football resumed post-war he moved to West Bromwich Albion for a fee of £100, and helped them to their first (and as of 2016 only) League championship. He scored both goals in the 1920 FA Charity Shield victory against Second Division champions Tottenham Hotspur.
