Lemon Pop
Lemon Pop (Japanese: レモンポップ, foaled February 15, 2018) is an active Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. His major wins include the February Stakes, Mile Championship Nambu Hai, and Champions Cup (horse race), Champions Cup. He was awarded the JRA Award for Best Dirt Horse for 2023. His name was derived from a Japanese beverage named "Lemon Squash" ( Japanese: レモンスカッシュ). Racing career 2020/2021: two/three-year old season Lemon Pop made his debut at the Tokyo Racecourse on November 7, 2020, in a two-year old newcomer race on dirt at the distance of 1,300 meters, and won the race while he was ridden by Keita Tosaki. Three weeks later, he won the Cattleya Stakes. In his three-year old season, he was pre-registered to the UAE Derby and the Kentucky Derby but was withdrawn and sent to graze. Negishi Stakes
The Negishi Stakes (Japanese 根岸ステークス) is a Grade 3 horse race for Thoroughbreds aged four and over, run in February over a distance of 1400 metres on dirt at Tokyo Racecourse. The Negishi Stakes was first run in 1987 and has held Grade 3 status ever since. The race was contested over 1200 metres from 1990 to 2000 and again in 2003. The 2003 edition was run at Nakayama Racecourse. The race is named in honour of Negishi Racecourse, a former horse racing venue in Yokohama. The Breeders' Cup Sprint is an American Weight for Age Grade I Thoroughbred horse race for horses three years old and older. Run on dirt Corrected grade for Santa Anita sprintover a distance of 6 Furlongs ( mile), the race has been held annually since 1984 at a different racetrack in the United States or Canada as part of the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Automatic Berths Beginning in 2007, the Breeders' Cup developed the Breeders' Cup Challenge, a series of races in each division that allotted automatic qualifying bids to winners of defined races. Each of the fourteen divisions has multiple qualifying races. Japan Breeding farms' Cup Sprint (ジャパンブリーディングファームズカップスプリント) is an annual race held on "JBC day", which is usually November 3, or the national holiday Culture Day. This race and the JBC Classic were started in 2001. These were established following the American Breeders' Cup. The winner of 2007, Fujino Wave, is the only JBC champion horse belonging to NAR, the organization supervising horseracing administrated by the local government. Others belong to the JRA. This is the one of the highest-prized sprint races. Although JBC Classic tends to be regarded as preparatory for Japan Cup Dirt, this race occupies the position as "dirt sprint championship". Meydan Racecourse is a racecourse in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The grandstand is over a mile in length, and can accommodate over 60,000 spectators. Meydan opened on 27 March 2010, replacing Nad Al Sheba Racecourse, which formerly occupied the same site. It includes a horse racing museum, gallery and five-star hotel and nine-hole golf course. The Dubai Golden Shaheen is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Arab Emirates for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds run over a distance of 1,200 metres (approximately 6 furlongs) on the dirt course at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai in late March. It was first run in December 1993 as the Nad Al Sheba Sprint, and its place in the calendar was moved in 1996 to be included in the Dubai World Cup Night held annually in March. Ryusei Sakai ( ja, 坂井瑠星, born May 31, 1997) is a Japanese jockey. Background Ryusei Sakai was born in 1997 to , a jockey and later Horse trainer, trainer of Oi Racecourse. He enrolled in the in 2013 to earn his jockey license, before graduating in 2016. Even before graduation, he apprenticed under Yoshito Yahagi, who, like Sakai, has ties to Oi Racecourse. After being issued his jockey license, he became the Yahagi stable's official jockey. Career After debuting in March 2016, Sakai won his first race with Grand Prix Accel at a maiden race held at Hanshin Racecourse on April 2, 2016. Two weeks later, he was taken out of the races for a month following a racing accident involving 4 horses including his own which resulted in him breaking one of his Rib cage, ribs.
