Leinster Lightning
Leinster Lightning is an Ireland, Irish inter-provincial cricket team. They participate in the Inter-Provincial Championship, Inter-Provincial Cup and Inter-Provincial Trophy. The team is based in Dublin and is managed by Cricket Leinster. History In 2013, Cricket Ireland formed the three-day Interprovincial Championship (cricket), Interprovincial Championship, Inter-Provincial Cup, Cup and Inter-Provincial Trophy, Trophy featuring teams from Leinster, the Northern Cricket Union of Ireland, NCU and the North West of Ireland Cricket Union, North West. The Leinster team is known as Leinster Lightning. In January 2015, Ted Williamson was announced as the new head coach, taking over at the helm from Trent Johnston. Under his coaching, Leinster Lightning took a clean-sweep of trophies in the 2015 and 2016 seasons before he stepped down from the position. Lorcan Tucker
Lorcan John Tucker (born 10 September 1996) is an Irish people, Irish cricketer and Wicket-keeper-batter, wicket-keeper batter. He was part of Ireland's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup and made his international debut for the Ireland cricket team in September 2016. He currently plays for MI Emirates in the International League T20, ILT20. In January 2020, he was one of nineteen players to be awarded a central contract from Cricket Ireland, the first year in which all contracts were awarded on a full-time basis. In 2022 he was awarded a further two-year contract. Biography His father Barry Tucker was also a cricketer who is currently serving as the Chair of Pembroke Cricket Club in Dublin. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is of three or more days scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but the term was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the International Cricket Council, Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis.
