''Leidi'' is a 2014 Colombian short drama film directed by Simón Mesa Soto. It won the Short Film Palme d'Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Synopsis Leidi lives with her mom and her baby. Her boyfriend, Alexis, hasn't shown up in days. That sunny morning, after she's bathed her baby, Leidi is sent to buy plantains. Outside, a guy tells her he has seen Alexis with another girl. Leidi won't return home until she finds the father of her child. Simón Mesa Soto
Simón Mesa Soto, is a Colombian film director and screenwriter known for his short films '' Leidi'' and '' Madre'', and his first feature film '' Amparo'', which had its premiere at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. Early years Simón Mesa Soto was born in Medellín, Colombia. Studied Audiovisual Communication at Universidad de Antioquia, where he also worked as lecturer in film editing before moving to the UK. In 2014 finished his studies in filmmaking at London Film School. ''Leidi'' was his graduation project. 2014 Cannes Film Festival
The 67th Cannes Film Festival took place from 14 to 25 May 2014. New Zealand filmmaker Jane Campion was the head of the jury for the main competition. French actor Lambert Wilson hosted the opening and closing ceremonies. Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan won the Palme d'Or, the festival's top prize, for the drama film '' Winter Sleep''.
