Leicester Warriors
The Leicester Warriors are an English semi-professional basketball club from Leicester, Leicestershire. Founded in 2003, the Warriors play their home games at Braunstone Leisure Centre and compete in NBL Division 1, the second tier of the British basketball system. The club runs extensive community programmes and grass root teams in the Leicester area. History The club were founded in 2003 by Leicester-born ex-England and Georgia Tech basketball player Karl Brown, with an emphasis on running community based programmes addressing social issues as well as encouraging participation in basketball. The club won promotion to EBL Division Two after their first season, and spent the following years consolidating their position in the division. English Basketball League
The National Basketball League, or NBL for short, is a league competition representing semi-professional and amateur basketball clubs from England and Wales. It forms levels 2 to 4 on the British basketball pyramid, in line with the Scottish Basketball Championship, sitting directly below the top tier British Basketball League. Leicester Riders are a British professional basketball team and the oldest club in the British Basketball League (BBL). Established in 1967, the club have played in various locations around Leicestershire before moving to their current purpose-built home venue, the Morningside Arena, in 2016. History The Loughborough All-Stars, as the Leicester Riders were originally known, were founded by students and lecturers at Loughborough University on 26 April 1967. The 2020–21 NBL season was the 49th edition of the English Men's National Basketball League. It was announced that there would be no promotion or relegation following the 2020–21 season, due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kareem Sherlock Queeley (born 30 March 2001) is a Kittitian-British professional basketball player for the London Lions of the British Basketball League (BBL). Early life and career Queeley grew up playing football and joined the Leicester Warriors basketball club at age nine. He was dominant at the youth level in England, recording multiple 90-point and 80-point games. In February 2015, he played for Real Madrid at the Minicopa Endesa, an under-14 tournament in Spain. He was named most valuable player after recording 36 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Unicaja Málaga in the title game. In September, he signed a multi-year junior contract with Real Madrid. Karl Pearson (; born Carl Pearson; 27 March 1857 – 27 April 1936) was an English mathematician and biostatistician. He has been credited with establishing the discipline of mathematical statistics. He founded the world's first university statistics department at University College, London in 1911, and contributed significantly to the field of biometrics and meteorology. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team represents the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in NCAA Division I basketball. The team plays its home games in McCamish Pavilion on the school's Atlanta campus and is currently coached by Josh Pastner.
