Rudolph Leibel
Rudolph Leibel (born 1942) is the Christopher J. Murphy Professor of Diabetes Research, Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center, and Director of the Division of Molecular Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics. He is also co-director of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center and executive director of the Russell and Angelica Berrie Program in Cellular Therapy, Co-director of the New York Obesity Research Center and the Columbia University Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Center. Leibel's co-discovery at Rockefeller University of the hormone leptin, and cloning of the leptin and leptin receptor genes, has had a major role in the area of understanding human obesity. Lorne Leibel (born 14 January 1951) is a Canadian sailor and one of Canada’s wealthiest real estate developers. He competed in the Tempest event at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Allan Leibel
Allan Leibel (born 28 February 1945) is a former Canadian sailor who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics and the 1976 Summer Olympics. Leibel presently serves as a member of the Canadian Olympic Association and as a member of the International Sailing Federation Review Board. Leibel attended the University of Toronto, earning a B.Comm degree in 1967 and an LL.B. degree in 1970. In 1972, he joined the Toronto law firm Goodmans, where he served as co-chair and continues to serve as counsel. Leibel focuses on municipal law and is a noted authority on development matters in the Toronto area. Terry Leibel is a Canadian retired journalist and former member of the Canadian Equestrian Team. After her career as an equestrian athlete throughout the 1970s, Leibel was hired by CBC Sports as an equestrian sports analyst. She was the first woman to host a CBC Olympic Games broadcast.
