The Lehman family (also Lehmann, Liehmann or Liehman) is a prominent family of Jewish German-Americans who founded the financial firm Lehman Brothers. Some were also involved in American politics. Members have married into the prominent Morgenthau, Loeb, and Bronfman families. Ken Lehman
Kenneth Karl Lehman (June 10, 1928 – December 4, 2010) was a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who pitched for three different teams between the 1952 and 1961 seasons. Listed at , , he batted and threw left-handed. Born in Seattle, Washington, Lehman was signed by the Brooklyn Dodgers organization in 1946 out of Kirkland High School and entered on their farm system in 1947. He played four seasons, reaching the Hollywood Stars of the Pacific Coast League in 1950 before enlisting during Korean War. Following military discharge, Lehman made his major league debut with the Dodgers in 1952 and later pitched two scoreless innings in Game 2 of the 1952 World Series against the New York Yankees. After three successful years with the Montreal Royals of the International League, Lehman returned to the Dodgers for the entire 1956 season. Robert Lehman
Robert Owen Lehman Sr. (September 29, 1891 – August 9, 1969) was an American banker, longtime head of the Lehman Brothers investment bank, and a racehorse owner, art collector, and philanthropist. Life and career Lehman was born to a Jewish family in New York City. He was the son of Philip Lehman (1861–1947) and grandson of Emanuel Lehman, a cofounder of Lehman Brothers investment bank, and Carrie Lauer (1865–1937). He graduated from Hotchkiss School in 1908 and was a 1913 graduate of Yale University, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity (Phi chapter). Richard "Dick" Lehman (12 June 1923 – 17 February 2007) joined the Central Intelligence Agency in 1949 and served for 33 years before retiring. As a junior analyst, he worked in the General Division of the Office of Reports and Estimates (ORE) using SIGINT to puzzle out the organization and output of various Soviet industrial ministries. Philip Lehman
Philip Lehman (November 9, 1861 – March 21, 1947) was an American investment banker. Biography Philip Lehman was born in New York City to Emanuel Lehman (1827–1907) and Pauline Sondheim (1843–1871). Emanuel was a co-founder of the now-defunct investment bank, Lehman Brothers. Philip became a partner in the family-owned firm in 1887 and was the firm's managing partner from 1901 to 1925. He was also the first chairman of the board of the Lehman Corporation. Lehman was notable as one of the first financiers to recognize the potential of issuing stock as a way for new companies to raise capital. Philip married Carrie Lauer (1865–1937) on January 3, 1884. Orin Allan Lehman (January 24, 1920 – February 22, 2008) was an American public servant who served as New York State’s longest-serving commissioner of New York State Office of Parks and Recreation. Early life Lehman was born to a Jewish family in Manhattan on January 24, 1920, the son of Evelyn (née Schiffer) (1893–1970) and Allan Lehman (1885–1952).
