LeedsCityBus
LeedsCityBus was a bus service which operated in the city centre of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The service started in 2011, as a replacement for the Leeds FreeCityBus service, which runs in other towns and cities in West Yorkshire. The service ran under contract to West Yorkshire Metro. History The Leeds FreeCityBus service began on 30 January 2006 and was the first zero-fare bus service in West Yorkshire, this was followed by similar services in Huddersfield, Wakefield, Bradford and Dewsbury. The services are designed to link passengers to the bus and railway stations, shops and other locations. In February 2011, the Leeds FreeCityBus came under threat of withdrawal, due to increased running costs. FreeCityBus
FreeCityBus or FreeTownBus is a family of zero-fare bus services which are operated in the centres of several cities and towns in the England, English county of West Yorkshire. The services operate as ''FreeCityBus'' in the city of Wakefield and as ''FreeTownBus'' in the towns of Huddersfield and Dewsbury. The service is run under contract to West Yorkshire Metro. FreeCityBus had also operated in Leeds between 2006 and 2011 before being replaced by LeedsCityBus in April 2011 then joining onto route 5 in 2016 and in Bradford before being replaced by Bradford City Bus in 2016. Leeds City Bus Station
Leeds City bus station serves the city of Leeds, England. Owned and managed by West Yorkshire Metro, it is situated between the Quarry Hill and Leeds Kirkgate Markets areas of Leeds city centre. The National Express Dyer Street Coach Station adjoins the bus station. History The bus station was opened on 31 August 1938 as Leeds Central bus station. It was built at the same time and in the same style as the Quarry Hill flats. The original bus station was used as the back-drop for the opening credits of Yorkshire Television sitcom '' Queenie's Castle''. The station was rebuilt reopening on 30 September 1963 with four curved platforms. In 1990, Vicar Lane bus station closed and West Yorkshire Road Car Company buses began using the main bus station. Leeds Beckett University (LBU), formerly known as Leeds Metropolitan University (LMU) and before that as Leeds Polytechnic, is a public university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Leeds General Infirmary
Leeds General Infirmary, also known as the LGI, is a large teaching hospital based in the centre of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, and is part of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Its previous name The General Infirmary at Leeds is still sometimes used. The LGI is a specialist centre for a number of services, including the regional Major Trauma Centre and Hand transplantation, hand transplants. It also provides many general acute services like A&E, intensive care and high dependency units, maternity and state-of-the-art operating theatres. Leeds Town Hall is a 19th-century municipal building on The Headrow (formerly Park Lane), Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. Planned to include law courts, a council chamber, offices, a public hall, and a suite of ceremonial rooms, it was built between 1853 and 1858 to a design by the architect Cuthbert Brodrick.
