Lebanese Second Division
The Lebanese Second Division ( ar, الدوري اللبناني الدرجة الثانية) is the second division of Lebanese football. Established in 1933, it is controlled by the Lebanese Football Association. The 12 teams that participate in the league play each other twice, once at home and once away, with the champions and the second placed team qualifying to the Lebanese Premier League to replace the bottom two teams. History Salam Achrafieh won the inaugural edition of the Second Division, in 1933–34, after beating Ararad 2–0 in the final. There was no promotion or relegation system at the time, so Salam Achrafieh remained in the Second Division. In April 1935, Second Division clubs requested a promotion system to be implemented. Lebanese Football Association
The Lebanese Football Association (LFA) ( ar, الاتحاد اللبناني لكرة القدم, Al-Ittiḥād Al-Lubnānī Likurat Al-Qadam; french: Fédération Libanaise de Football) is the governing body of association football in Lebanon. Formed in 1933, it is a member of both the AFC and FIFA. It is also one of the founding members of the WAFF, joining in its inception in 2001. History In 1931 Khalil Hilmi, a member of Riyadi Beirut, attempted to form a federation. However, the proposal failed as Nahda opposed its formation. On 22 March 1933, representatives of thirteen football clubs gathered in the Minet El Hosn district in Beirut to form the Lebanese Football Association (LFA). Hussein Sejaan was the LFA's first president. Lebanon was one of the first nations in the Middle East to establish an administrative body for association football. The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is an American soccer league that was founded in Santa Ana in Southern California, with teams in regionalized conferences throughout the United States, and recently Canada and Mexico. The league was founded in 2011 by Santa Ana Winds FC President Leonel López as a regional league for teams in Greater Los Angeles, but expanded to include 400 teams from 41 states as of the 2022 season. Two seasons are played each year, with regional play culminating in a playoff system that crowns a single national champion each season. The league features internal promotion and relegation with up to three levels in some regions; only clubs in the top tier Premier Division are eligible to compete for the national championship. Sagesse SC (football)
Sagesse Sports Club (), known as Hekmeh ( ar, الحكمة ) in Arabic, is a football club based in Achrafieh, a district in Beirut, Lebanon, that competes in the . The club was founded in 1943 as Cercle de la Sagesse. Although they haven't won any major title, Sagesse came second twice in the Lebanese Premier League 2002, and were finalists in both the Lebanese FA Cup, in 2006, and the Lebanese Federation Cup, in 2004. The club is mostly known for its basketball program, and mainly has Maronite Christian ties. Al Shabiba Mazraa Beirut ( ar, الشبيبة المزرعة بيروت; french: Jeunesse Sportive de Mazraa), also historically known as Cercle de la Jeunesse Catholique in French, was a football club based in the Mazraa district of Beirut, Lebanon. Established in 1940, it was one of the traditional multi-sports clubs in Lebanon with a long established program in football. The club's support mainly came from the Greek Orthodox community, although it also had members from other religious communities. History Founded in 1936, Shabiba Mazraa received their official license in 1940. The club won the Lebanese Second Division in the 1941–42 season, and winning back-to-back FA Cups in 1951 and 1952. The club was founded in 1931 as the football section of the Antranik Youth Association, the Lebanese chapter of the Armenian Youth Association. History With the establishment of Antranik Youth Association in 1931, Antranik formed its football team. Racing Club (), known as Racing Beirut or simply Racing, is a football club based in Achrafieh, a district in Beirut, Lebanon, that competes in the . They play their home matches at the Fouad Chehab Stadium and are primarily supported by the Christian community. Racing Beirut won the Lebanese Premier League three times, the Lebanese Challenge Cup twice, and the Lebanese Second Division three times. They also finished runners-up in the Lebanese FA Cup twice. Association Sportive Hilmi-Sport ( ar, حلمي سبور) was a football club based in Beirut, Lebanon. Established in 1936, they won two Lebanese FA Cups in 1939 and 1940, and were finalists in the inaugural Lebanese FA Cup in 1938. History Hilmi-Sport was founded in 1936 by Khalil Hilmi, with Imre Zinger from Hungary appointed as the first coach. The club was known as "the Red Devils" (; ), and wore a red shirt with black shorts. Hilmi-Sport hosted several foreign teams, most notably Austrian clubs First Vienna and Admira Vienna, and Romanian club CFR Cluj, among others. In 1937–38 Hilmi-Sport won the Lebanese Second Division, and were runners up in the Lebanese FA Cup. They won the FA Cup twice in a row: in 1938–39 and 1939–40.
