Le Villi
''Le Villi'' (''The Willis'' or ''The Fairies'') is an opera–ballet in two acts (originally one) composed by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Ferdinando Fontana, based on the short story "Les Willis" by Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr. Karr's story was in turn based in the Central European legend of the Supernatural beings in Slavic religion#Vila, Vila, also used in the ballet ''Giselle''. The opera, in its original one-act version, premiered at Milan's Teatro Dal Verme, on 31 May 1884. A performance typically lasts 64 minutes. Compositional history ''Le Villi'' is Puccini's first stage work. It was written for 's first of four musical competitions, advertised in April 1883, for a new, unperformed opera "inspired by the best traditions of Italian opera", which could be "idyllic, serious, or comic", to be judged by a panel including Amintore Galli and Amilcare Ponchielli. Giulio Ricordi
Giulio Ricordi (19 December 1840 – 6 June 1912) was an Italian editor and musician who joined the family firm, the Casa Ricordi music publishing house, in 1863, then run by his father, Tito, the son of the company's founder Giovanni Ricordi. Richard Wagner

Tito Gobbi
Tito Gobbi (24 October 19135 March 1984) was an Italian operatic baritone with an international reputation. He made his operatic debut in Gubbio in 1935 as Count Rodolfo in Bellini's '' La sonnambula'' and quickly appeared in Italy's major opera houses. By the time he retired in 1979 he had acquired a repertoire of almost 100 operatic roles. They ranged from Mozart's mid-range baritone roles through Rossini's Barber through Donizetti and the standard Verdi and Puccini baritone roles to Alban Berg's '' Wozzeck''. Massimo Foschi
Massimo Quinto Foschi (born 2 January 1938) is an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Born in Forlì, Foschi began his career as an actor at some point during the 1960s. He appeared in over 22 films since 1966 and also worked extensively as a theatre actor alongside colleagues such as Lamberto Puggelli and Ottavia Piccolo. The Festival della Valle d'Itria is a summer opera festival held in the south eastern Italian town of Martina Franca in the Apulia region.
