Le Pop
''Le Pop'' is the debut studio album by Norwegian band Katzenjammer. It was released on September 29, 2008, by Propeller Recordings. Reception Critical reception The album received generally favorable reviews. Adrien Begrand from PopMatters rated ''Le Pop'' eight out of ten stars and wrote that its "songs all play to atzenjammer'sstrengths and, most importantly, are all instantly memorable." In an additional review for PopMatters, Mike Schiller called ''Le Pop'' a "great album." Furthermore, he wrote that the album would have the listener "singing along" since its songs are "engrossing and appealing". In a review for ''The Washington Post'', Catherine P. Lewis wrote that the album "never lacks energy" and called it a "charmingly quirky collection of songs." She did, however, write that Katzenjammer's "exuberance ccasionallyteeters on the brink of unbridled chaos," citing the album's title track, which she said "sounds like a circus band gone rogue." Katzenjammer (band)
Katzenjammer was an English-language Norwegian band from Oslo, formed in 2005. The band consists of Anne Marit Bergheim, Solveig Heilo and Turid Jørgensen. Former band member Marianne Sveen left the band in the beginning of 2016. History 2005–07: Formation The members of Katzenjammer met in 2004 while studying at a private music school in Oslo. The band was formed in 2007 while listening to Anne Marit Bergheim perform the song "Wading in Deeper" on the piano. They were brought together by a common feeling of being "the outcasts at the school." Katzenjammer felt that their music school didn't encourage originality, but "only wanted to teach what had been done." The band is named after the Katzenjammer Kids, the oldest comic strip continually in syndication. They chose this comic strip because they noticed that they resembled the characters in it. Banjo
The banjo is a stringed instrument with a thin membrane stretched over a frame or cavity to form a resonator. Sitar
The sitar ( or ; ) is a plucked stringed instrument, originating from the Indian subcontinent, used in Hindustani classical music. The instrument was invented in medieval India, flourished in the 18th century, and arrived at its present form in 19th-century India. Khusrau Khan, an 18th century figure of Mughal Empire has been identified by modern scholarship as the originator of Sitar. According to most historians he developed sitar from setar, an Iranian instrument of Abbasid or Safavid origin. Accordion
Accordions (from 19th-century German ''Akkordeon'', from ''Akkord''—"musical chord, concord of sounds") are a family of box-shaped musical instruments of the bellows-driven free-reed aerophone type (producing sound as air flows past a reed in a frame), colloquially referred to as a squeezebox. Solveig Heilo (born December 24, 1981), simply known as Sol Heilo, is a Norwegian composer, artist, musician, music producer, arranger, designer and costume designer. She is mostly known for the band Katzenjammer. Sol works in different genres, such as folk, rock, pop, bluegrass, classical, blues, soul, country, tribe, klezmer and electronica.
