Lazarus Mokgosi
Lazarus "Lazzy" Mokgosi is a South African politician who has been a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature since December 2022. He is a member of the African National Congress (ANC) and in August 2022 was elected to a four-year term as Deputy Provincial Chairperson of the party's North West branch. According to ''City Press'', Mokgosi was elected to the party office on a slate of candidates aligned to Nono Maloyi, who was elected ANC Provincial Chairperson at the same party elective conference. Mokgosi won the position in a contest against Paul Sebegoe; he received 353 votes against Sebego's 311. He was sworn into the provincial legislature in December, reportedly after the ANC amended its party list to elevate him. North West Provincial Legislature
The North West Provincial Legislature is the primary legislative body of the South African province of North West. It is unicameral in its composition, and elects the premier and the provincial cabinet from among the members of the leading party or coalition in the parliament. Powers The North West Provincial Legislature elects the Premier of North West, the head of the province's executive. The legislature, by passing a motion of no confidence, can force the Premier to resign. The legislature may pass a motion of no confidence to compel the Premier to reconfigure the Executive Council, even though the Executive Council members are selected by the Premier. Wendy Matsemela
Mmaphefo Lucy "Wendy" Matsemela (born 11 June 1968) is a South African politician who was Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education in the North West from May 2019 to December 2022. She represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2004 to 2009 and in the North West Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2022. While in the provincial legislature, she served almost continuously in the North West Executive Council, excepting two gaps from 2010 to 2013 and from 2016 to 2018. She resigned from the provincial legislature in December 2022 after Premier Bushy Maape fired her as an MEC. Paul Sebegoe
Paul Sebegoe is a South African politician who is currently serving as Chief Whip of the Majority Party, the African National Congress (ANC), in the North West Provincial Legislature. He formerly served in the North West Executive Council from November 2010 to May 2014 during the tenure of Premier Thandi Modise. Shortly after her election as Premier of the North West in November 2010, Modise announced a major cabinet reshuffle in which Sebegoe was appointed Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Local Government and Traditional Affairs. North West (South African Province)
North West is a province of South Africa. Its capital is Mahikeng. The province is located to the west of the major population centre of Gauteng and south of Botswana. History North West was incorporated after the end of Apartheid in 1994, and includes parts of the former Transvaal Province and Cape Province, as well as most of the former bantustan of Bophuthatswana.
