Lazarus Chakwera
Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera (born 5 April 1955) is a Malawian politician and theologian who has served as President of Malawi since June 2020. He has served as the leader of the Malawi Congress Party since 2013. He was president of the Malawi Assemblies of God from 1989 to 2013. Previously, Chakwera was the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Malawi, National Assembly following 2019 Malawian general election, highly controversial elections held on 21 May 2019 which were overturned by the Constitutional Court. He was appointed chairman of Southern African Development Community, SADC on 17 August at the SADC 41st Annual Summit held on 9 August to 19 August 2021 in Lilongwe, Malawi. 2020 Malawian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Malawi on 23 June 2020, having originally been scheduled for 19 May and later 2 July. They followed the annulment of the results of the 2019 Malawian general election, 2019 presidential elections, in which Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party (Malawi), Democratic Progressive Party had received the most votes. The result of the re-run elections was a victory for Lazarus Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party, who defeated Mutharika by margin of 59% to 40%. The elections were hailed by observers as being both free and fair. The University of Limpopo () is a public university in the Limpopo Province, South Africa. It was formed on 1 January 2005, by merger of the University of the North and the Medical University of South Africa (MEDUNSA).
