Lawtonka Acres is a census-designated place (CDP) in Comanche County, Oklahoma, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. The CDP is in northern Comanche County, at the north end of Lake Lawtonka, an impoundment on Medicine Creek, a southeast-flowing tributary of East Cache Creek, leading south to the Red River. Robinsons Landing Marina is located in Comanche County, Oklahoma within the continental United States. Lake Lawtonka provides the fresh water source for the waterfront marina. The watercraft landing basin is situated on the north shoreline boundaries of the Lawtonka reservoir. Elgin High School is a secondary school located within Comanche County in Elgin, Oklahoma. It is a part of Elgin Public Schools. Elgin Public Schools
Elgin Public Schools is a school district in Elgin, Oklahoma. It includes; Elgin, Lakeside Village, Lawtonka Acres, and portions of Edgewater Park and Medicine Park. History School District No. 16, county of Comanche, Oklahoma Territory, was formed April 3, 1902. In June 1902, a one-story schoolhouse and other out building were constructed. A. T. Kellison was hired as the first teacher at a salary of $40 per month. By 1908, since enrollment of the school had increased to 80 pupils and 110 in 1909, it was obvious that more space was needed. Construction of a new brick building began and it was occupied in the spring of 1910. The school became accredited in 1928. The first school buses began their daily route in 1935, a hot lunch program also started in 1935, and the first cafeteria begun in 1948, in a building remodeled from an army hospital. Wichita Mountains
The Wichita Mountains are located in the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It is the principal relief system in the Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen, being the result of a failed continental rift. The mountains are a northwest-southeast trending series of rocky promontories, many capped by 500 million-year old granite. These were exposed and rounded by weathering during the Pennsylvanian and Permian Periods. The eastern end of the mountains offers of topographic relief in a region otherwise dominated by gently rolling grasslands. Lake Lawtonka
Lake Lawtonka is a lake in Comanche County in the state of Oklahoma in the United States.''Merriam-Webster's Geographical Dictionary, Third Edition'', p. 636. The lake is in area. It is formed by a dam high and long across Medicine Creek. The lake provides the water supply for the Fort Sill and Lawton communities as situated south of the water reservoir.
