Lawrence Chandler
Lawrence Chandler is a British American composer, musician, producer and sound artist based in London. Best known as a founding member of seminal New York duo Bowery Electric, he works in ambient, contemporary classical, electronic and experimental styles. Biography Following Bowery Electric's final tour in 2000, Chandler took a hiatus during which time he studied composition privately with La Monte Young and Pauline Oliveros, with Conrad Cummings at The Juilliard School, worked for Philip Glass and completed a Master of Music in Composition from Goldsmiths College. He returned in 2009 with ''Everybody Here Is Fine'', commissioned for Make Music New York and premiered at The Bell House, Brooklyn on 21 June 2009. Beggars Banquet Records
Beggars Banquet Records is a British independent record label. Beggars Banquet started as a chain of record shops owned by Martin Mills and Nick Austin and is part of the Beggars Group of labels. History In 1977, spurred by the prevailing DIY aesthetics of the British punk rock movement (then at the height of its popularity), Martin Mills and Nick Austin founded a record label to release records under the Beggars Banquet imprint. The first band on the label was the English punk group the Lurkers; the first release on the label was the Lurkers' 7" single "Shadow"/"Love Story". They also released the first solo "Duffo" album from Australian big-band vocalist Jeff Duff. Later in the decade and into the early 1980s, hits with Tubeway Army and Gary Numan secured the label's future. Brian Alfred
Brian Alfred (born 2 December 1974, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Education Alfred received his Bachelors of Fine Art degree from Penn State University and his Masters of Fine Art degree from Yale University. He also attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. Creative works He has had solo shows at Miles McEnery Gallery Haunch of Venison, Mary Boone Gallery, SCAI the Bathhouse, Sandroni Rey Gallery, and Max Protetch Gallery amongst others. Dartington International Summer School was a British summer school and festival of music held on the medieval estate of Dartington Hall, Devon, England, and the first summer school of music in the United Kingdom. It was a department of the Dartington Trust. It was replaced in 2024 bChoralFest a new venture for the Trust, which invites singers to work on a large-scale choral work with celebrated international tutors and pianists. Operation First established at Bryanston School in 1948 (largely through the work of William Glock), the summer school moved to Dartington in 1953. Meredith Jane Monk (born November 20, 1942) is an American composer, performer, director, vocalist, filmmaker, and choreographer. From the 1960s onwards, Monk has created multi-disciplinary works which combine music, theatre, and dance, recording extensively for ECM Records. Michael Riesman
Michael Riesman is a composer, conductor, keyboardist, and record producer, best known as Music Director of the Philip Glass Ensemble and conductor of nearly all of Glass' film scores. Biography Michael Riesman studied composition with Peter Stearns and conducting with Carl Bamberger at the Mannes College of Music and got a B.S. there in 1967. The summer of 1967 he went to the Aspen Music Festival where he studied with Darius Milhaud, and won the student composition prize. He then went on to study composition with Leon Kirchner, Roger Sessions, and Earl Kim at Harvard, where he earned an M.A. and PhD (1972).
