Lavrentis Machairitsas
Lavrentis Machairitsas (; 5 November 1956 – 9 September 2019) was a Greek rock musician from Volos, Thessaly, Greece. Biography Early years Machairitsas was born in Volos and began taking piano lessons at the age of six. These lessons lasted a year. At the age of nine he bought his first record, ''Help!'' by the Beatles. Three years later, he discovered ''Revolver'' by the Beatles. His first job was at a record store, but because of his lack of punctuality he was fired. He disliked school, and after he started a fight with one of his teachers, he was expelled and excluded from all high schools. He went through countless jobs and served in the army for 14 months. Termites When he left the army, he started singing with Panos Tzabelas in Syntrofia. At the age of 20 he (as Larry), Pavlos Kirkilis (Paul), Takis Bassalakis (Jimmy), and Antonis Mitzelos formed a band called P.L.J. They moved to Paris, hoping for a musical career outside Greece. Nea Ionia, Magnesia
Nea Ionia (, meaning New Ionia) is a city and a former Communities and Municipalities of Greece, municipality in Magnesia (regional unit), Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Volos, of which it is a municipal unit. It borders the city of Volos. The population at the 2021 census was 31,884 inhabitants. Eleftheria Arvanitaki (Greek: Ελευθερία Αρβανιτάκη) (born 17 October 1957 in Piraeus) is a Greek folk singer. She originates from the island of Icaria. Arvanitaki has worked with musicians such as Cesária Évora, Arto Tunçboyacıyan and Ara Dinkjian. The Alcyonides (, ''Alkyonides'') were, in Greek mythology, the seven daughters of the giant Alcyoneus. Names These sisters were identified individually as, Alkippe, Anthe, Asteria, Drimo, Methone, Pallene and Phthonia ( Phosthonia or Chthonia). Mythology When their father Alcyoneus was slain by Heracles, the Alcyonides threw themselves into the sea from Kanastraion, which is the peak of Pellene. They were transformed into halcyons (kingfishers) by Amphitrite. Legacy Islands The Alkyonides are also small rocky islands in the Corinthian Gulf very close to the coast of Attica, Peloponnese and Central Greece, taking their name from the mythological figures. Rixe & Co. was a German bicycle, moped, and small motorcycle manufacturer with a factory in Brake, Bielefeld, Germany from 1921 to 1984. Rixe & Co. produced 5.5 million units during that time and employed 1000 people at their peak. Rixe Bicycles were imported to the United States by Victoria Distributors in Lancaster, PA from the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s. In 1984, the factory was sold and shipped to China. In 1998 the Rixe name was acquired by Derby Cycle Werke and used on a line of their bicycles. In 2013, Derby Cycle Werkes was fully acquired by Pon Holdings. There is no mention of Rixe on Pon Holdings website or on Pon Bikes website. Rixe Bicycles Rixe initially produced parts for other manufacturers. In 1923 they began producing their own line of bicycles under the name Rico and continued to use the Rico name until the end of 1924.
