Lauri Tuohimaa
Lauri Tuohimaa (born 25 January 1979) is a musician from Oulu, Finland. He played guitar in Charon (2003-2011), For My Pain... (1999-2004) and Embraze (1994–2009), in which he was also the lead vocalist. Lauri first played in a band called Maple Cross before forming Embraze with drummer Ilkka Leskelä, Petri Hennell and Mikko Aaltonen under the name Embrace. His influences include Pantera and CMX. Oulu
Oulu ( , ; sv, Uleåborg ) is a city, municipality and a seaside resort of about 210,000 inhabitants in the region of North Ostrobothnia, Finland. Charon (band)
Charon was a Finnish gothic metal band from Raahe. Biography Charon was founded in 1992 by Antti Karihtala, Teemu Hautamäki, Pasi Sipilä, and Jasse Hast and was originally a brutal death metal act. After releasing three promo albums and two demos, all self-released, the band signed a record deal with Emanzipation Productions. Through Emanzipation, Charon released their first two full-length albums Sorrowburn and Tearstained in 1998 and 2000 respectively. After touring with fellow Finlanders Sentenced, the band parted ways with Emanzipation and signed to Spinefarm Records. During the summer of 2001 Charon recorded their third studio album Downhearted. Prior to the release of the full album, the single ''Little Angel'', which rose to number 5 on the Finnish singles chart, was released. For My Pain
For My Pain... was a gothic metal supergroup from Oulu, Finland, featuring members from Embraze, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Nightwish, Charon and Reflexion. The band released their debut album ''Fallen'' in 2003, but has since not released any further full-length albums. History The idea of For My Pain... started in 1999, when Altti Veteläinen and Petri Sankala, both from Eternal Tears of Sorrow, wanted to start a new project. They asked two old friends, Tuomas Holopainen and Lauri Tuohimaa, to join. All parties were interested, but as everyone was too busy, the project was postponed. A few years later the idea came up again, this time with a better timing since both Eternal Tears of Sorrow and Nightwish were having breaks. Pantera
Pantera () is an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas formed in 1981, and currently comprised of vocalist Phil Anselmo, bassist Rex Brown, and touring musicians Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante. CMX (band)
CMX, originally Cloaca Maxima, is a Finnish rock band. They originally played hardcore punk, but soon expanded to play a wide variety of rock formats, including progressive rock, heavy metal, and mainstream rock 'n' roll. Throughout their career, they have been influenced by progressive rock bands such as Rush, Yes, Tool and King Crimson. The progressive influence is most evident on their albums ''Dinosaurus Stereophonicus'' (2000) and ''Talvikuningas'' (2007). CMX have gradually gained large-scale mainstream following in Finland.
