Loreen Ngwira also spelt as Laureen Ngwira (born 25 May 1993) is a Malawian netball player who plays for Malawi in the positions of GD and GK. Career Loreen has represented Malawi at the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and 2018 where Malawi finished at fifth and seventh positions respectively. She also took part in two Netball World Cup tournaments including the 2015 World Netball Championships and 2019 Netball World Cup where Malawi finished at sixth position in each occasions. She was part of the Malawian squad which finished at fifth position at the 2012 Fast5 Netball World Series. She was part of the Malawi team which finished at fifth position at the 2013 Fast5 Netball World Series. In the same tournament, Malawi stunned England twice in the round robin match and in the playoff for the fifth place. Manchester Thunder are an English netball team based in Manchester. Their senior team plays in the Netball Super League. In 2005–06, Thunder were founding members of the league. They were Super League champions in 2012, 2014, 2019 and 2022. Between 2001 and 2012 they played as Northern Thunder and were originally based in Bury, Greater Manchester. 2018 Fast5 Netball World Series
The 2018 Fast5 Netball World Series was the 9th Fast5 Netball World Series. Australia hosted England, Jamaica, Malawi, New Zealand and South Africa in a series, played in October 2018, at the Melbourne Arena. With a team coached by Debbie Fuller and captained by Sulu Fitzpatrick, New Zealand won the series for the seventh time after defeating Jamaica 34–33 in the final. Australia finished third, overcoming Malawi 38–15 in a playoff. The England national netball team played a three-match test series (officially referred to as the 2021 Vitality Legends Series) against an All-Stars team made up of players from the Superleague competition in the United Kingdom. 2021 Netball Superleague Season
The 2021 Netball Superleague season was the sixteenth season of the Netball Superleague, the elite domestic netball competition in the United Kingdom. The season started on 12 February 2021. Manchester Thunder were the defending champions, as they won the 2019 season and the 2020 season was cancelled after three rounds due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the first nine weeks of matches were held at Studio 001 in Wakefield, and the remaining matches were held at the Copper Box Arena in London. All matches were originally scheduled to be held behind closed doors, though from week 17 onwards, limited numbers of fans were permitted into matches, due to a change in the UK Government guidelines. The 2020 Netball Superleague season was the fifteenth season of the Netball Superleague, the elite domestic netball competition in the United Kingdom. The season commenced on 22 February 2020. Manchester Thunder were the defending champions. In the midst of the fourth round of matches, the league announced the postponement of all future matches until at least 30 April 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Joyce Mvula
Joyce Mvula (born 15 April 1994) is a Malawian netball player and winner of two Netball Superleague titles. Domestic career Mvula started playing netball at age 13 and became the first Malawian to play in the Netball Superleague after she was picked up by Manchester Thunder following the Netball World Cup in 2015. She has paved the way for a number of Malawian players to join the Superleague. Mvula played for Manchester Thunder for 6 years from 2017 until 2022, winning titles in 2019 and 2022. She was named Sky Sports Fan's Favourite Player of the Season in 2019. Mvula was named in the Netball Superleague All Stars team who played a series against England Netball in January 2021. After her role in Thunder's unbeaten and grand final winning season in 2022, during which Mvula scored 774 goals, she announced she would be leaving to play in another country.
