''Laura'' is a 1968 American TV film, a remake of the 1944 film of the same name. It was directed by John Llewellyn Moxey and written by Truman Capote and Thomas Phipps. David Susskind produced. The film had previously been adapted for television in 1955. Plot summary The story follows detective Mark McPherson (Robert Stack) as he investigates the apparent murder of Laura Hunt ( Lee Radziwill), a beautiful and successful advertising executive. Initially believing Laura to be dead, McPherson becomes obsessed with the case and finds himself falling in love with the victim through her portrait and the accounts of those who knew her. The investigation leads McPherson to interview several key suspects from Laura's social circle. ''Laura'' is a 1944 American film noir produced and directed by Otto Preminger. It stars Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews, along with Clifton Webb, Vincent Price, and Judith Anderson. John Llewellyn Moxey
John Llewellyn Moxey (26 February 1925 – 29 April 2019) was an Argentine-born British film and television director. He was known for directing the horror film '' The City of the Dead'' (also known as ''Horror Hotel'', 1960) and directing episodes of '' The Saint''; '' Mission: Impossible''; '' Magnum, P.I.''; and ''Murder, She Wrote''. He was sometimes credited as John L. Moxey or John Moxey. Life and career Moxey was born in Argentina in 1925. His family operated a coal and steel business out of South America at the time. He attended Rose Hill School, Banstead, Ottershaw College, Bradfield College, and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. David Susskind
David Howard Susskind (December 19, 1920 – February 22, 1987) was an American producer of TV, movies, and stage plays and also a TV talk show host. His talk shows were innovative in the genre and addressed timely, controversial topics beyond the scope of others of the day. Early life, education and military service Susskind was born to a Jewish family of modest means in Manhattan and grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts. He graduated from Brookline High School in 1938. ''A Portrait of Murder'' is a 1955 American TV film for '' The 20th Century-Fox Hour''. It was a remake of '' Laura''. It was adapted by Mel Dinelli, produced by Otto Lang and directed by John Brahm. Stack was assigned to star as he was under contract to Fox. He said Brahm "who had not asked for the idiotic assignment, got so tangled up in the cameras and the seven day schedule it took us fourteen days to shoot it." Farley Earle Granger Jr. (July 1, 1925 – March 27, 2011) was an American actor.
