Launch Point Press
Launch Point Press is a small press publisher of lesbian literature based in Portland, Oregon. History Launch Point Press (LPP) is a lesbian-oriented press with the goal of publishing quality works by newer authors just “launching” their careers or by experienced authors “re-launching” their work. LPP is on the list of women's presses "dedicated either wholly or to a significant degree to publishing material written for, by, or about women. Many of them started during the 'second wave' of feminism." Since the publication of its first title in 2017, the primary focus of LPP has been on lesbian fiction: lesbian romance, lesbian crime fiction, and lesbian speculative fiction/sci-fi/fantasy novels. A typical production year includes 8 - 10 trade paperback releases. Effective January 1, 2023, the founder of the press, Lori L. Lake, sold it to new owners Jodi and Peggy Zeramby. Lambda Literary Awards, also known as the "Lammys", are awarded yearly by Lambda Literary to recognize the crucial role LGBTQ writers play in shaping the world. The Lammys celebrate the very best in LGBTQ literature.The awards were instituted in 1989. The program has grown from 14 awards in early years to 24 awards today. Golden Crown Literary Society
The Golden Crown Literary Society (GCLS) is an American non-profit organization established in February 2004 as a literary and educational organization for the study, discussion, enjoyment, and enhancement of Lesbian literature. In 2020, in order to be inclusive, the GCLS changed the focus from "lesbian" works to reflect the study, discussion, enjoyment and enhancement of literature about "women loving women." Since 2005, the GCLS has presented Golden Crown Literary Awards ("Goldies") in various categories of fiction about lesbians and women loving women at its annual conference. Sue Hardesty
Sue Aileen Hardesty (July 11, 1933 – December 16, 2022) was an American author from Buckeye, Arizona, whose writing focused on plots and characters from the Southwestern United States, and social themes of lesbianism and feminism, as well as complex female characters and family relationships. She was a long-time supporter of the NOW (the Central Oregon Coast Chapter), the Rainbow Round Table of the American Library Association, PFLAG, the Golden Crown Literary Society, and the Lambda Literary Foundation. Biography Hardesty was born in Buckeye, Arizona, and grew up on horseback in the desert area. Her mother was a prospector and a homemaker while her father farmed and ran a ranch.
